Tailor Lyrics
If I were a tailor I could make you a tie
If I were a baker I might bake those things you like
And I wouldn't mind taking my time
If I were your paper you could read me like a book
If I was your pen, then you could hold me in your hand
And I wouldn't mind you taking your time drawing the straight lines
If I were a snow plow I could plow a path to you
If I were a snow flake I would fall right next to you
And if I were your wood stove I could keep you warm at night
If I were the fire I could keep you warm all night
And I wouldn't mind taking my time
No I wouldn't mind taking my time for you
If I were a baker I might bake those things you like
And I wouldn't mind taking my time
If I was your pen, then you could hold me in your hand
And I wouldn't mind you taking your time drawing the straight lines
If I were a snow flake I would fall right next to you
And if I were your wood stove I could keep you warm at night
If I were the fire I could keep you warm all night
And I wouldn't mind taking my time
No I wouldn't mind taking my time for you

It's just what it sounds like, a cute love song. I love this song, it's my favorite song off of the album.
I don't think this is a cute song at all. This is a beautifully haunting song about when someone just cannot do what the other person needs in a relationship. The end could possibly be the one of the purest forms of rage ever written, but that doesn't seem like Julie, so it's probably just more of the primary template without any searing implications... but I'm not totally convinced about that...

I would like to think these lyrics are have been intentionally chosen, painstakingly crafted, and laden with scorching double entendre that masks vicious anger with cute nothings. I immediately liked (most of) Julie's songs, but interpreting her as a sevant lyricists makes her even better.
Why a tie? A tie is worn around a neck...
Why a baker? Well, this is the only line that I'm don't have any interpretation for. And I wouldn't mind taking my time? The subject does mind taking her time.
If I were your paper you could read me like a book? Extreme sarcasm. If I was your pen, then you could hold me in your hand? An accusation of the opposite.
And I wouldn't mind you taking your time drawing the straight lines? Straight lines, as in straight lines in the sand, and various other military/belligerence styled connotations.
If I were a snow plow I could plow a path to you? You are so cold that I need a snow plow.
If I were a snow flake I would fall right next to you? You are the winter. And if I were your wood stove I could keep you warm at night? Just setting up the next line, I believe.
If I were the fire I could keep you warm all night? I am the fire and I will happy burn you.
And I wouldn't mind taking my time? Literal, given the previous sentiments.
No I wouldn't mind taking my time for you? Same.
Hopefully people find this song as fascinating as I do.
