This song seems to be about a guy and a girl who met up recently, and havent known each other for that long. They are hooking up, and the guy is thinking that he wants more then just a one night stand with the girl, hence the "You can't say honestly that this is what you came for, I want more than just one night of our hands against the headboard"
And the girl maybe doesnt trust him or is coming off of a relationship that didnt work out, and the author says that he is her best bet and that he is just asking her for a chance to prove himself to her.
Thats what I got out of it...

I totally agree with pphil09. He wants to start something with her even though she's scared. He's trying to figure out which will be the best way to be with her and he doesn't want her to give in so easily.
i think this song is about a one night stand between 2 people, and maybe the girl is trying to get over a relationship and she just wants to have sex and not get hurt, but the guy really likes the girl and wants things to go farther but the girl is scared to get hurt again.
