Wonderful and sincere song from The Fray yet again. Isaac and Co. never cease to amaze me with their ability to write songs. It's said that the melody for this song was created in less than 24 hours by the band members!
These lyrics are incorrect though...you have "I'll be screaming your name, FROM THE BACK OF OHH."
It should be, "I'll be screaming your name, FROM THE BACK ROW."

I agree with the lyrics corrections posted, but I'm guessing the moderator hasn't seen or doesn't care.
To me, this song is two people who were in a relationship and one person didn't quite see it as the solid, tangible thing he was after so he left for selfish reasons, then realized his mistake and is doing everything he can to communicate that he was an idiot. He wants his partner to wait for him to come back from the journey he started.
Theres been a lot of speculation on the lyrics posted above but these ARE THE CORRECT LYRICS. A lot of people say its "I'll be screaming out your name from the back row" but come one. Does that really make sense? From the back row of what? It most definitely is "I'll be screaming out your name from th back of ooohhh". By that he means that after I say "ooohhh" I will say your name. So if the name of the girl he is talking about is Danielle, it would go "ooohhh Danielle!!!" Do you understand? Im 13 and even i could figure that out. THINK PEOPLE!!!

I think the song meant unrequited love of a woman to the man, "that's why there are passing ships under different skies" means that they maybe friends for so much time that they are like lovers but could not admit it hence "They're two lovers in the night Waiting on the sun to rise" On the time of departing from each other, the girl said it here. "But you just whisper what you said One last time I could have sworn I heard you say That you are mine" The man then struggles how to tell his love for her finally but then she's gonna marry someone else(assuming they've met again after long years) "The back row" means if the woman say yes to him for that moment before marriage he will scream(against the priest asking for someone who opposed the marriage) "I never saw it like you did Didn't know that it was there You don't see it in your hand Until the end" This talks about regret. But in the end, the man left hanging and it's exactly the other way around(now the man have unrequited love for the woman)
