Bright Grey Lyrics

This is the state of my mind | When you gonna let me out of the light?
These orange and yellows aren’t making me mellow
Up tight | is the state of my mind
And I never hear what the people say
Until over this river of thoughts they deliver | up tight thoughts
Into the state of my mind

Oh when are you gonna let me unwind?
‘Cause I’m born of thunder but stripped of my wonder

[ooh hoo]
[ooh hoo]

The world is bright grey
[ooh hoo]

I must have fallen asleep that day

[ooh hoo]
The world is bright grey,

[ooh hoo]
[ooh hoo]

And that’s the state of my mind
Oh when are you gonna let me out of the light?
Fore these orange and yellows aren’t making me mellow | no more
And it’s a hell of a bore

[ooh hoo]
[ooh hoo]

The world is bright grey

[ooh hoo]
[ooh hoo]

I’m must have fallen asleep that day

[ooh hoo]
[ooh hoo]

The world is bright grey

[ooh hoo]
[ooh hoo]

[ooh hoo]
[ooh hoo]

And that’s the sate of my mind

Paint your beautiful face, talk about it on Facebook. Oh, and what do you think of Margaret Boyle? Am I supposed to care? It ain't easy to be mellow in a mobile, information overloaded, over-stimulated, ADD world. The song is a beautiful mission statement setting aside all of the bright yellow and orange distractions and cutting to the core of being one's self. I also consider that a performing artist might feel pulled in a thousand different directions to an even greater degree.

I guess that's one of the best things about true art. It could mean something completely different to them, or to you. Whatever it is, it's an emotionally-charge anthem of declaration and the world is better off for having Phoenix Foundation in it.

this song freaking moves me in all the right ways. i think it explains someone escaping from a life of being held back from who they really are and breaking into this new life of freedom and being nothing but what they really are. but then again, that's how i take it.
