Lullaby (Mountain) Lyrics

I, I will watch over you
I know your heart is true
little mountain of mine

'Cause the sun set down on me
You turn your head and slowly start to breathe
the carbon bonds on carbon, buried deep
I'm the shadow of a long forgotten dream

But I, I will watch over you
I know your heart is true
little mountain of mine

Every word I wrote left incomplete
and the promises I never got to keep
Though your toes grow colder as you sleep
The blood runs through your heart with every beat

'Cause I, I will watch over you
I know your heart is true
little mountain of mine

I, I will watch over you
I know your heart is true
little mountain of mine

I've read that the whole album is about the life of lyricist/singer/guitarist Rolf Klausener's mother, Gloria Esperanza Montoya (hence, Glory Hope Mountain). The whole song is a new mother's lullaby, in which the little mountain takes on a double meaning. It is the enormous significance of the child, but it is also the mother's family name. The song affirms the everlasting commitment of a mother to her child.

If you love the singer, she is not actually part of The Acorn, but Casey Mecija of Ohbijou.

...I could listen to this all day..

I wrote 'wash' because that's what I've seen written elsewhere but I hear 'watch'

what do you all hear, 'wash' or 'watch'?

It says "watch" in the liner notes plus it fits with the lullaby theme.

And yeah, I definitely agree! It's my favorite track off of the album and definitely one of the most beautiful songs ever written!

thanks, i fixed it!

i would love to hear the acorn sing live

This is the best song I've heard in a long time.

Oh and I meant to say, I thought it was "note I wrote" not "word I wrote".

I'm really bad with interpreting lyrics... but this is her saying goodbye, right?

She is leaving this life, but she will always be there and inside of him...?
