Cradle Lyrics
Lyrics are rather abstracted, but it seems like it might evoke being ashamed of something you've said or done.
The energy of this song is amazing--glittering, pounding, a bit lonely. Like hurtling along the highway, watching the lights of Vegas spread out before you.
so i think it's about a relationship. in the beggining it says
"I can see he says what he means" (maybe 'i love you')
Then "I can't say what he means when he says that" (she cant say 'i love you' back to him and mean it)
"I'll pretend a pretty pretend" ( so she'll pretend to love him)
"When all I wanna see is the end of this" (end of the relationship?)
That's the impression I get. And then she says something nasty to him.

ok - i am with y'all sorta...but her viscous tongue cradles just one what?

i can see two ways to interpret the line

"My vicious tongue Cradles just one "
"My vicious tongue Cradles just one "
1) she's normally mean to people, but she can't seem to break up with this guy for some reason. she's cradling him. 2) she was really mean to him, but that's because she was looking out for herself.

Split the skies
Get up off your knees
Just lift the marks
And new-found kinesis
I'll pretend a pretty pretend
When all I wanna see is the end of this
@Cassiel2113 Came to say this.\r\nI agree, Split the skies, not scrape. And Kinesis, not releases.

Instead of the commonly stated view that it's about the end of a relationship (really only supported by the one line "when all I wanna see is the end of this"), perhaps it is simply about a fight - a lover's quarrel.
I agree with cosmogonic, there does seem to be a tone of regret or shame here. This could simply be the result of things said in a fight - the "vicious tongue"; "sticks and stones, leading to apologies". Or maybe the words said were indeed beyond retrieval: "I wish the cobwebs would cover me" - I wish I was dead, then I wouldn't feel this shame.
And in the end, regardless of how short tempered and vicious the words, there's only one person that is truly loved.
"I wish the cobwebs would cover me"
Great line
yes i agree with cosmogonic that maybe they are ashamed or regret somthing they had said or done with the "apologies" part but it also says "We'll deal him sticks and stones" so they still dont like or favor this person because tehy also say "I'll pretend a pretty pretend" so tehy are pretending and putting up a front to please some one else(?) idk lots of inturpretationss**.
I love the energy of this song too. I agree with COMB, she is in a situation where she has to bite her tongue because she is disgusted. She is forced to baby the situation and cant wait until it is over. Maybe the authority, boss, family member, ex lover, etc.
Maybe, it's not being able to say something. Maybe it's not being able to end something although all you wanna see is the "end of this". "Get up off your knees" because we're done here. The singer has found a release ("new found releases") after ending it. "We'll deal him sticks and stones and apologies" reminds me of things people say when they break... How they break the bad news and then apologize saying it's their fault not yours. Then again, there's a sort of guilt in this I guess. She wishes that cobwebs would cover her as if she wants to hide away from it all.
Either that or that's just what's going on in my life right now.
*when they breakup
Don't worry. It'll be over soon. Then we can get it on with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
