Take me out, take me home, take me anywhere
I walked a hundred miles so I could give a dog a bone.

I'm alright, I don't mind.
I'm just running into something bigger
than the something that I left behind.
Oh my darling (x3), Clementine.
Turn the water (x3) into holy water.

You are restless, very young.
Got a message from your mother,
said to tell you she'll be coming round the mountain when she comes,
She will be coming round the mountain when she comes.
Oh my darling (x3), Clementine.
Turn the water (x3) into holy water.
Oh my darling (x3), Clementine.
Turn the water (x3) into a little bit more time.

Take me out, take me home, take me anywhere.
I walked a hundred miles
so I could hear them play your song on the radio.

    My Interpretation

I don't think the song is entirely gibberish but sometimes the things that we want to say seem that way because sometimes the words we use are too short to encapsulate certain experiences.

Personally for me its a song about finding a way to get out of a stagnant situation where your life isn't going anywhere or finding your place in the world So you run away trying yourself into things that might make life seem more meaningful and purposeful.

Hence my favorite line "I'm just running into something bigger than the something I left behind."

"Take me out, take me home, take me anywhere I walked a hundred miles so I could give a dog a bone." - because when you feel empty, you have nothing to give. In order to move forward you need to move.

"Turn the water into holy water" Making ordinary things mean something deeper like a job into a real career.

"You are young you are restless. Got a message from your mother said to tell you she'll be coming round the mountain when she comes" - Well when you're young you want try a lot of things, and sometimes all these restlessness lands us into trouble hence the "mountains". The part about the mother maybe about our parents or loved ones who are supporting us to overcome difficulties. They'll come around the mountain because its not them who are facing the difficulties but us. Only we can face the music, and the people we love can only be there for us.

"Take me out, take me home, take me anywhere. I walked a hundred miles so I could hear them play your song on the radio." - I guess its about a record she worked to put out there"
