Because Of My Poor Education Lyrics
Because of my poor education
I don't expect your invitation
A ship lost inches away from the bay
Because of my poor education
I can't endure my situation
This here is my bed
And I must lie
Oooh oooh ooh ooh (x3)
Because of this strange indentation
I live my life without affection
Kind hearted view me and say
"Thank God that's not me"
Once I was sure I had found my hero
And I allowed myself to think so
Reality is not real to me
Oooh oooh ooh ooh (x3)
I don't expect your invitation
A ship lost inches away from the bay
I can't endure my situation
This here is my bed
And I must lie
I live my life without affection
Kind hearted view me and say
"Thank God that's not me"
And I allowed myself to think so
Reality is not real to me

A song on familar Morrissey themes - lack of love, fullfillng relationship etc. But an absolutely gorgeous tune and an interesting twist. I see it as him saying his lack of education in the ways of loving, having relationships is down to why he feels so cut adrift in that aspect of life; rather than down to any literal meaning of a lack of formal education. I love the last line "Reality is not real to me." Reality as it is for most other people who are able to have romantic, long lasting relationships.
Ever considered the song could be about someone following an idol and copying him/her in everything he/she does, even copying his/her behaviour, while being a totally pathetic nobody? Or about the teenage Morrissey at the same time?
