21st Century Breakdown (Demo) Lyrics
Born into Nixon I was raised in hell
A welfare child where the teamsters dwelled
The last one born but the first one to run
My town was blinded by refinery sun
My generation is Zero
I never made it as a working class hero
21st Century Breakdown
I once was lost but never was found
I think i'm losing whats left of my mind
To the 20th century deadline
I was made of poison and blood
Condemnation is what i understood
From Mexico to the Berlin Wall
Homeland Security could kill us all
My generation is Zero
I never made it as a working class hero
21st Century Breakdown
I once was lost but never was found
I think I'm losing whats left of my mind
To the 20th century deadline
We are the cries of the class of '13
Born in the era of Humility
We are the desperate in the decline
Raised by the bastards of 1969
My name is No-One your long lost son
Born on the 4th of July
Born in the barnyard of Heroes and Cons
They left me for dead or alive
There is a war that's inside my head
That questions the results and lies
I'm breaking my back 'till i'm better off dead
When enough ain't enough to survive
I am an agent, a worker, a pawn
My debt to the status quo
The scars on my hands are a means to an end
It's all that i have to show
I'm taking a loan on my sanity
For the redemption of my soul
Well I am exempt from this tragedy
And this 21st Century fall
I praise liberty
The freedom to obey
It's a song that strangles me
Well don't cross the line!
Oh, dream, American dream
I can't even sleep
From rainstorms till dawn
Oh, bleed, America, bleed
Believe what you read
From heroes and cons...
A welfare child where the teamsters dwelled
The last one born but the first one to run
My town was blinded by refinery sun
I never made it as a working class hero
21st Century Breakdown

Pretty much American Idiot with a twist, nothing special.
I WANT THIS ALBUM
uh. lol no.
I'm really looking forward to the new album. Slighty new direction again, with emphesis on American Idiot. Old stuff is still the best. Green Day still showing they are still amazing =) Cant wait for world tour..

I can't wait. I love this song already.
From what I've heard so far, I agree with you Nac2045.
The instrumentals sound pretty good. The vocals seem typical-Green Day. This album, to me, just seems like an extension of American Idiot. Which isn't a bad thing. I was just hoping they could whine about something else for this new album. Ah well. I'm still a die-hard Green Day fan.
This song serves well as an introduction into another album based on a socio-political commentary of the youth, as well as the people who should be taking the power into their own hands, instead of drinking the "poison" the "bastards of 1969." Its an attack on the ideals of the previous generation and this generation for failing to man up and change things; a call to arms, so to speak. "My generation is zero I never made it as a working class hero." In a nutshell: the old American dream is dead, what is the next generation going to do? Hope the rest of the album provokes as much discourse as this song did. Also, the music has improved: Butch Vig is a genious.
First off. This song is about Kurdt Kobain growing up learning guitar and partying in a logging town where pretty much everyone does some kind of labor for a living, which is kind of what kurts dad wanted, but didnt get out of him Oh yea, and, ummm am i the only one who actually listend to the song and noticed that these are not the right lyrics??

From Hero's and Cons.
No, but you might be the only one who listened to it and didn't realize that the demo version is different than the final release.

First off, this song is not about Kurt Cobain. Second, Kurdt Kobain is Kurt's alias. If you're going to talk about Kurt's childhood then spell his name right. Lastly, these are the lyrics to "21st Century Breakdown (Demo)" emphasis on DEMO.

He's pretty much feeling what everyone who bothers to read once in a while is feeling, like the world is a circus and we're the jugling monkeys.
