Truck Stop Blues Lyrics

Oh!
That was such a short goodbye
Never get to say exactly what I want in front of you
I always fall apart at the worst thoughts of crashing down
I know you know this isn't what you signed up for

I'll never let this go
I'm in a different state every night
We're kept together by highways and telephone lines
I'll never let this go
I'm in a different state every night
We're kept together by highways and telephone lines

The mile markers help me count down the next time I'll be around
The only thing I'll rely on is
Falling leaves covering the ground
And a pale version of your complexion
I hope you know I'm worth waiting for

I'll never let this go
I'm in a different state every night
We're kept together by highways and telephone lines
I'll never let this go
I'm in a different state every night
We're kept together by highways and telephone lines

A long road
I've seen it all
Never wanting to look back
This long road
I've spent so much time
I'm glad you're willing to wait for me

Cause I'll never let this go
I'm in a different state every night
We're kept together by highways and telephone lines
I'll never let this go (go!)
I'm in a different state every night
We're kept together by highways and telephone lines

Obviously about how the singer or whoever wrote the song is always away from his girlfriend or loved one because he's on tour. People who travel a lot for work can relate to it.

I think this song is about the fact that a man/ the singer/ the composer/ has to travel around, and leave a special loved-one behind to do what he does for a career. He talks about what he feels when he leaves everything behind, even the fallen leaves, covering the ground. He even tells about how she feels, how she knows this isn't what she wanted. The title, "Truck Stop Blues" either got its name form the fact that every gas station/ truck stop has a telephone, so that he can call her and talk "We come together by highways and TELEPHONE LINES." That or the fact that truck stops don't take a long time to get gas and leave, like how the composer/singer/lyricist had to have "...such a short goodbye." Thanks for reading!
