Er… sounds like she has crabs or something and gave it to him. It doesn’t help that the first two lines are:

great song!! i love the "everybody gets the itch, everybody hates that..." we all know what they wanna say... The JoBros said they wrote it because poison ivy is something thats easy to get and everyone hates/ thinks they're allergic to even though noones really allergic.. aka girls who they just fall into but dont really want the only person they know who doesnt say they're allergis.. John Taylor!

I think its because Taylor Swift had chlamydia and she spread it to Joe, its so obvious:

I really don't like this song at the moment, but maybe it's a grower.

It just makes me laugh so much. The words are ridiculous. So far this album isn't looking quite as good as the last! Still love 'em though.

Maybe people dont really know the real story behind this song. But i'll try to explain.. The poison ivy is Camilla Belle.

You can compare this song lyric with JB's other song entitled "Move on". They have the sIMILAR rhyme. Move on lyric was once written by joe to reffer hiss ex, A.J. mICHALKA. And Poison ivy must be about jOE'S GIrl too. Remembering that Joe once was off with Camilla for a while when they didnt seem to be together and Camilla hang out with other man, rob pattinson in a party, but then they got back together again, until they're finally really2 over. AT THAT TIME, JOE WROTE THIS SONG WITH nick and kevin, telling about her.
