These Hands Lyrics
i wear the customary clothes of my time,
like jesus did, with no reason not to die
facing history, with little to no irony
like i'm some forgotten southern city Sherman razed
still hid under thick smoke after all these years
these hands, are my father's hands but smaller
soaked in paint thinner,
until they're so dry coming together,
they make the sound of resisting each other
a shrill squeal like two moving rubber, tires touching
hide nothing, hide nothing
like jesus did, with no reason not to die
facing history, with little to no irony
like i'm some forgotten southern city Sherman razed
still hid under thick smoke after all these years
soaked in paint thinner,
until they're so dry coming together,
they make the sound of resisting each other
a shrill squeal like two moving rubber, tires touching
hide nothing, hide nothing

I love Yoni, because he just writes about his life, and just happens to be amazing at it. Like some of their other songs, i believe this is another healthy dose of self-analysis. Unlike a lot of his other lyrics, he lays this one out pretty clearly."these hands, are my father's hands but smaller, soaked in paint thinner, until they're so dry coming together, they make the sound of resisting each other a shrill squeal like two moving rubber, tires touching, hide nothing, hide nothing" I think it was mentioned that this is about his various compulsions (hand washing, clothes, etc.) To me, the second verse is just saying that whats differentiating him from his father, or anyone else for that matter, are the things that make him unique. And the line "hide nothing" kind of reveals it all, everyone has things to hide, but just show it, show what makes you an individual, good or bad. This is just my interpretation of this song, I'm probably wrong, I don't care. I respect Yoni and the others so much for what they do. Why has helped me through a lot of hard times.
this song is fucking awesome.
And again, Wolf's obsessive hand washing problem.
You can also notice his obsession with mentioning the clothes he wears.

I like that second verse. It's like if he exposes all his dirty secrets through his music, maybe he'll find some sort of catharsis and he'll be clean. Speaking of which, I wonder if this has any link to what he's singing about in "Into the Shadows of my Embrace"?

correction:
'like i'm some forgotten southern city Sherman razed'
phonetically the same but razed makes much more sense.
amazing, thank you
