Time is a thief with a loaded gun
The sky rolls by while the days are gone
The night falls prey to another sun
All like clockwork they won’t stop
They won’t stop
They won’t stop
They won’t stop
Don’t stand still or we’ll lose our ground
The world keeps spinning just to wear us down
Say what you must while there’s still a round
Days go to sleep but they won’t stop
They won’t stop (3x)
We never should have allowed another sun to set
On all the words that we have left til now
I know you’d rather sort it once tomorrow comes
But tomorrow already happened
Tomorrow
Tomorrow
Tomorrow
Time is a thief with a loaded gun
The sky rolls by while the days are gone
The night falls prey to another sun
The days go to sleep but they won’t stop, no
They won’t stop
We never should have allowed another sun to set
On all the words that we have left til now
I know you’d rather sort it once tomorrow comes
But tomorrow already happened
Tomorrow
Tomorrow
Tomorrow
Tomorrow
We can wait for a sunrise to say what should matter
And we’ll know by tomorrow
But tomorrow
Tomorrow just happened
Today we have to make the most of life
Tomorrow we don’t have a choice
All we ever get control of is now
(x2)
I know you’d rather sort it out once tomorrow comes
But tomorrow already happened
I know you’d rather sort it out once tomorrow comes
But tomorrow already happened
The sky rolls by while the days are gone
The night falls prey to another sun
All like clockwork they won’t stop
They won’t stop
They won’t stop
The world keeps spinning just to wear us down
Say what you must while there’s still a round
Days go to sleep but they won’t stop
They won’t stop (3x)
On all the words that we have left til now
I know you’d rather sort it once tomorrow comes
But tomorrow already happened
Tomorrow
Tomorrow
The sky rolls by while the days are gone
The night falls prey to another sun
The days go to sleep but they won’t stop, no
On all the words that we have left til now
I know you’d rather sort it once tomorrow comes
But tomorrow already happened
Tomorrow
Tomorrow
Tomorrow
And we’ll know by tomorrow
Tomorrow just happened
Tomorrow we don’t have a choice
All we ever get control of is now

But tomorrow already happened
But tomorrow already happened

Great song, I don't know about everyone else but I can't wait for this new album
I think there are a few minor mistakes in the lyrics though 3rd line, 2nd verse -Say what you must while there's still a round Should be -Say what you must while we're still around
Also in the first chorus Instead of -We never should have allowed another sun to set -On all the words that we have left til now Should be -We never should allow another sun to set -On all the words that we have held so long
I could be wrong, but that's what I hear. Thanks for posting the rest of the lyrics though.
Inspiring, thank you for posting and taking the time to hear the words!
I think the meaning is straightforward, and that meaning struck me pretty good. I love the line "But tomorrow already happened"
Make the most of what you got, of today, for there might be no tomorrow... or tomorrow will be gone before you even realized it. Make the most of love, and live life to the fullest.

Just wondering... does anyone else think that this song is better than anything on Armistice? I do. I feel like it has the classic Mute Math sound that the new album is missing.
Dont get me wrong, I'm all for bands trying new things, it worked great for Bloc Party imo, but Armistice is not change for the better, its change for the more generic. I think the sound behind this song would have made a much better basis for the new album than the generic alt/pop/rock they went with.
it's the trend of viva la vida and all his friends.

I agree completely with bgagma. I've been listening to "Clockwork" for since Spotlight came out. I love it; I think it's one of their best, and I really hoped Armistice was going to be more of the same, but I've been disappointed. It really has been "a change for the more generic"...well put.

I listen to "Clockwork", and think about others like "Break The Same" and "Noticed", which are all brilliant, and then I have to try hard not to cringe when I hear "Electricy" (not because it's musically substandard, but because lyrically it's so...

I agree with Christiaan33 but, for those who don't believe in God, and everyone else... We have turned the world upside down, and instead of trying to fix it we are living like there is no tommorow...not thinking about our actions....and if we keep it up then the youth will do the same and the time to make a stand will be lost forever.
Mute Math has some great tunes and beats, but the difference between where they are now and where they could be is that musically their verses tend to be much more boring compared to their awesome choruses, with this song being an example. The entire songs tend to have great lyrics but they need to get a little more musically creative in the rest of the song. I do love this song, but I can imagine it being so much better and getting so much more crazy if their non-chorus sections were more memorable
And to comment as to the content of the lyrics for this particular song, I think it is talking about the Biblical reference in Proverbs about resolving conflict before the sun goes down. What comes to mind first when I hear this song is I imagine a husband and wife that have been having this longstanding unresolved conflict, and then after putting it off, before they know it it's too late to fix it - maybe one of them wants a divorce, or perhaps one of them dies. And the one remaining is left with regret that they didn't try to make things right when they still had the chance. I suppose it could also apply to other family, boyfriend/girlfriend, or just regular friendship.
