The Only Thing I Have (The Sign) Lyrics
It must've been a dream I had
When I was young
Will someone tell me I can be something
Before too long
Now I open up my eyes
To see the other side
I'm looking in a mirror at
The man who told me I was a lie
The only thing I have left by my side
Is a lonely will to fight
When you're lost look for the sign
It's there I would look and there you will find
When you're lost look for the sign
But where have you gone?
It must've been a dream I had
So long ago
Well something bigger must've touched me then
To fill my mind with hope
Now I'm breathing heavier
I wait my place in line
I'm lonely choking taking bottles down
To ease my mind
My mind
The only thing I have left by my side
Is a lonely will to fight
When you're lost look for the sign
It's there I would look and there you will find
When you're lost look for the sign
But where have you gone?
When you're lost look for the sign
It's there I would look and there you will find
When you're lost look for the sign
But where have you gone?
All alone
Oh no
And you don't know where to
All alone
Oh no
And you don't know where you
Are you gonna find
Find what you're looking for?
Are you gonna find
Find what you're looking for?
When you're lost look for the sign
It's there I would look and there you would find
When you're lost look for the sign
But where have you gone?

Such a great song. March 17th cannot come soon enough!
Btw, in the chorus it sounds like it goes:
When you're lost look for the sign It's there have a look...
I hear that too. Also, I hear:
I'm looking in the mirror at The man who told me I was a lie.
instead of:
I'm looking in the mirror at The man who told me i wasn't right
and during the bridge, I hear "Oh you're gone" again instead of "All gone".
Brilliant song!
I was looking in the lyric sheet that came with the c.d. and for those parts it's:

Great song and great c.d.!!
To me this song about someone having big dreams (maybe ace) but feeling like they're lost in trying to fullfill those dreams. And now he's looking for a sign and pushing through. Love this song, one of my favorites that ace has ever written, so far.
