Lenin Lyrics
When Lenin was little,
All the birds in the forest were singing
"Man, this is it!"
But now that he's older,
All the sailors in Heaven are singing
"Abandon Ship!"
I know it can't be right!
I know it can't be right!
But I just smile instead
Of repeating what I said
In my head!
When Lenin was little,
Dressed up like a vampire on All-Hallow's Eve!
All the saints up in Heaven
Were looking down at the leaves fallin' off the trees.
I know it can't be right!
I know it can't be right!
But I just smile instead
Of repeating what I said...
Daddy, Daddy, please spare the world from the government.
Daddy, Daddy, please spare my soul from my own judgment.
Daddy, Daddy, please send me a heart that isn't made of cement.
Cause the money's all been spent!
Daddy, Daddy, please spare the world from the government.
Daddy, Daddy, please spare my soul from my own judgment.
Daddy, Daddy, please send me a heart that isn't made of cement.
Cause the money's all been spent!
The money's all been spent!
The money's all been spent!
The money's all been spent!
All the birds in the forest were singing
"Man, this is it!"
But now that he's older,

this and in the back seat are my favorite arcade fire tracks. i love how the DWTN complilation got the best out of most of the collaborators. i can just imagine Lenin being all young and cheery out in a Russian landscape and right before the chorus hits with the instrumental build, he starts sprouting devil horns!
AMAZING SONG!!!!!! i bought "dark was the night" (an idie compilation) just for this song!!!!
THthank you so much your lyrics have saved my brain from brainstorming anymore...
When I hear this song, for whatever reason, I just see a bunch of drunk Communists dancing on a table with Vladmir Lenin in some big chair above everyone else. I don't know why, but I imagine there are other intended meanings, like the fact that the governments of the world are running out of money and hearing all that kind of shit on the news and just being scared, not knowing what to feet other than distant fear. Then again it's a fun tune.
*feel (as opposed to feet, f**ked up)
