Past the Sleep Lyrics
Across the ocean
Under the sand that got in your wounds
Across the ocean
Under the land that you now consume
There sleeps a demon
It wakes at night by the light of the moon
And its watching while you sleep
While you sit and dream
Of all the people laughing
Picking up the shells
Too concerned with suntans
Nobody can tell
They end up empty, wanting, wandering
Hollow like their shells
On seashores from sailors and tales they'll never tell to their maidens and babies
Tales that they'll never tell
Across the ocean
Under the water that got in your lungs
There sleeps a demon
It knows exactly what you will become
And it's watching while you sleep
While you sit and dream
Of all the people laughing
Picking up the shells
Too concerned with suntans
Nobody can tell
They end up empty, wanting, wandering
Hollow like their shells
On Seashores from sailors tales they'll never
Tell to their maidens and babies
Tales that they'll never tell
While you're dreaming at the sea...
They end up empty, wanting, wandering
Hollow like their shells
On Seashores from sailors tales they'll never
Tell to their maidens and babies
Tales that they'll never tell
They end up empty, wanting, wandering
Hollow like their shells
Under the sand that got in your wounds
Across the ocean
Under the land that you now consume
It wakes at night by the light of the moon
And its watching while you sleep
While you sit and dream
Of all the people laughing
Picking up the shells
Too concerned with suntans
Nobody can tell
Hollow like their shells
On seashores from sailors and tales they'll never tell to their maidens and babies
Tales that they'll never tell
Under the water that got in your lungs
There sleeps a demon
It knows exactly what you will become
While you sit and dream
Of all the people laughing
Picking up the shells
Too concerned with suntans
Nobody can tell
Hollow like their shells
On Seashores from sailors tales they'll never
Tell to their maidens and babies
Tales that they'll never tell
Hollow like their shells
On Seashores from sailors tales they'll never
Tell to their maidens and babies
Tales that they'll never tell
Hollow like their shells

I went to a Company of Thieves show recently and Genevieve herself (the singer) said that this song was all about not letting your nightmares you have in your sleep run your life past the sleep.
damnit lol I was trying to type lyrics out to this til I figured out you beat me to the punch.
Great song but it should be, "On seashores FROM sailors AND TALES they'll never tell to their maidens and babies."
This is my favorite song by them. This and "Tornado Song". If you guys haven't seen the live version with Daryl Hall you definitely should. Its very nice
