freedom within there is freedom without - at first I interperated this as not all of us, not everyone is free for instance the people in sex slavery and some people are forced to work as slaves (coco farms especially). deluge means overwhelming (however it mainly refers to a flood) but he is saying trying to catch a flood in a paper cup isn't going to work. Unless you watch international news stations you are never really going to know what is happening where. But you'll never see the end of the road while your travelling with me - people's viewpoint on if they do help, maybe it won't be quick, it won't be easy, so it is like giving up - this is taking too long this will take forever I give up hence why in the chorus it says hey hey now don't dream its over. Many people have fought for things there whole life and many people say oh well that was a waste of your life. Well how was it a waste when you made a difference?
This is going to sound like a cliche but they are right, don't give up because it won't be a waste once you achieve what you wanted - i.e. a better grade or helping someone out (like the people in third world countries) what is a waste is trying and giving up because you gave the effort and you let it go to waste.
