Finally Home Lyrics
I’m gonna wrap my arms around my daddy’s neck
And tell him that I’ve missed him.
And tell him all about the man that I became
And hope that it pleased him
There’s so much I want to say
There’s so much I want you to know
Chorus
When I finally make it home
When I finally make it home
Then I’ll gaze upon the throne of the King
Frozen in my steps
And all the questions that I swore I would ask
Words just won’t come yet
So amazed at what I’ve seen
So much more than this old mind can hold
Chorus
Bridge
And the sweetest sound my ears have yet to hear
Voices of the angels
Chorus
And tell him that I’ve missed him.
And tell him all about the man that I became
And hope that it pleased him
There’s so much I want you to know
When I finally make it home
When I finally make it home
Frozen in my steps
And all the questions that I swore I would ask
Words just won’t come yet
So much more than this old mind can hold
And the sweetest sound my ears have yet to hear
Voices of the angels

I am truly blown away by this song. I can listen to this song without getting emotional. I believe it is Mercy Me's best song and it is at the top of my personal favorites list. Well done Bart, your father would be very proud of you and what you are doing. God bless you and the band, you all are inspiring.
Beautiful, graceful song. This holds a lot of meaning for me personally; I went away from the Christian faith but this gives me hope for a happy afterlife with my dad there again to hug.
I think it is pretty easy to interpret. Obviously he is talking about physically and spiritually "make[ing] it home." physically as soldiers coming home from deployment as depicted on the music video, and spiritually to heaven.
