Careless Whisper (George Michael cover) Lyrics

I feel so unsure,
As I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor.
As the music dies...
Something in your eyes,
Calls to mind a silver screen,
And all those sad goodbyes.

I'm never gonna dance again,
These guilty feet have got no rhythm.
Though its easy to pretend,
I know you're not a fool.

I should have known better than to cheat a friend,
And waste the chance that I'd been given.
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you.

Time can never mend,
The careless whispers of a good friend.
To the heart and mind,
Ignorance kind...
There's no comfort in the truth,
Pain is all youll find.

I'm never gonna dance again,
These guilty feet have got no rhythm.
Though its easy to pretend,
I know you're not a fool.

I should have known better than to cheat a friend,
And waste the chance that I'd been given.
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you.

What am I without your love?

Tonight the music seems so loud,
I wish that we could lose the crowd.
Maybe its better this way,
Wed hurt each other with the things we want to say.

We could have been so good together,
We could have made this last forever...
But now, whos gonna dance with me?
Please stay. (And now its never gonna be That way...)

I'm never gonna dance again,
These guilty feet have got no rhythm.
Though its easy to pretend,
I know you're not a fool.

I should have known better than to cheat a friend,
And waste the chance that I'd been given.
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you.

Now that youre gone...
Now that youre gone...
Now that youre gone...
Was what I did so wrong?
So wrong that you had to leave me alone?

Interpretations vary. To me, this song starts off by saying that the narrator cheats on his gf, after a while, he remembers he has a lover and the guilts start up. he feels that the girl knows he has a girlfriend and she's pretending she doesn't know anything. he knows she's not stupid. he starts to remember how much his girlfriend really likes him, and how lucky he is to have someone like that and how foolish he is to have thrown all of that away for something temporary. he decides to tell his girlfriend what had happened and she makes it seem that she took it well and didn't cry or say something like, "how could you?" but something more like, "it's okay, it happens." so now he can't comfort her. but the truth is both of them are feeling this massive pain inside of them. He remembers how fortunate he was, and wonders what he would do without her. he wishes there was nothing else in the world besides them so they can fix things. then he wonders if that really would be best or if everything happened for a reason. They both have hid things from eachother and they felt that they sensed something when they didn't. so with all that guilt accumilating, the only one's they really hurt was themselves. they could have made the best of their relationship and could've stayed for a longer time, but they didn't. he wishes she would've stayed and wonders if anyone will ever love him as much as she did. he wonders whyy she really left him. did she not know that he could fix/learn from his mistakes? afterall, he is human just like she is. so he asks her, "Now that youre gone... Was what I did so wrong? So wrong that you had to leave me alone?" because he is wondering if that was the real reason that she had broken up with him, or was there something else that she is not telling him?

hmmphh. basically, i think it's making it seem at first as if the narrator has the fault, but towards the end, it reveals that the lover isn't too inocent.

i'm only 14. I tried my best. :D

My Interpretation

i think thats write, but dude just so you know, the original person who wrote it, george michaels, was gay.

haha just shows how much I know. (:

my jaw hit the floor after reading this comment, bleenapple. Its like you went inside my head and picked this out from everything else roaming around up there. When i listen to this song it makes me feel exactly the way you just described it. I did those exact things, cheated, lied and kinda got what i deserved. but im still left here wondering, did she know? why did she take the news so well? questions never cease to come up in my mind, they will never get answered, but this song helps a little bit. Great song seether.

thanks lovesickened. I just snagged these lyrics from elsewhere and didn't have time to edit them, but I'll be sure to fix them.

and yes I lovee this version. I've heard the original and I like it, and I really love how Shaun put his own singing style into it, (most people that do covers sing the same exact way) but I guess it's just being a good singer.

Anywho, the song's about looking back on what happened in the relationship (the narrator cheated on their spouse).

i think this song is about i guy who is in love with one of his friends and wants to tell them but is worried that it would ruin their friendship but in the end does it anyway and it kills their relationship

i totally agree and i think that it could also be one of his friends' girl.

This is seriously the best "Careless Whisper" cover that I've heard. Better than the others by far, in my opinion.

My Opinion

This cover is honestly amazing, amazing, amazing. I liked the original George Michael version, but I honestly like the Seether version better. They put a deep, emotional spin on the original.

Just a few corrections that I noticed:

Chorus should be "I should have KNOWN better than to cheat a friend."

Second verse line should be "To the heart and mind, IGNORANCE IS kind."
