Set to Fail Lyrics
You want to blame me for the way you hate yourself
You think you can find who you are in someone else
Criticize to better your relative positioning
You've got a long way to go
So go and weave your tale of woe
Convincing yourself it's so
You're so set to fail
Somewhere you finally lost your way
Only yourself left to betray
A nameless heir apparent, paranoid despair
You take great measure to appear like you don't care
Precision and persuasion must precede the proper lie
You lost it before you began
So go and weave your tail of woe
Convincing yourself it's so
You're so set to fail
Somewhere you finally lost your way
Only yourself left to betray
You think you can find who you are in someone else
Criticize to better your relative positioning
You've got a long way to go
Convincing yourself it's so
You're so set to fail
Only yourself left to betray
You take great measure to appear like you don't care
Precision and persuasion must precede the proper lie
You lost it before you began
Convincing yourself it's so
You're so set to fail
Only yourself left to betray

Personally, I think it relates to a person who blames everyone else for their problems, when really they know that they are the cause or root of everything they feel.
Also,
"Criticise those who already found their positioning" is actually "Criticise to better your relative positioning"
and
"The decision and persuasion must deceive thee properly" corrected is "Precision and persuasion must precede the proper lie"
I think it's about people who criticise others to make themselves feel or appear better, idolise others for all the wrong reasons/use them as a vessel to portray themselves and people who are defeatists towards their own obstacles of life are set to fail from when they begin. Just my opinion of course.
I can't wait for Friday, they're releasing the music video for this song!!! WOOT!!!!!!!!!
Man, this album is going to be amazing. I can already tell. I will be buying it DAY 1 unless I can pre-order it somewhere haha.
wow! LOG really outdone theirselves with this song. everything about it is just amazing. i think this song is about a person, no matter what he does, fails at everything he tries.
Damn...
"so go and weave your tale of woe connecting yourself into your so set to fail "
"connecting yourself into" is actually "convincing yourself it's so".
And csimpson, you sort of have it. It's more about someone having a negative mindset about anything they do...and they set themselves up to fail at whatever they're doing. Technically, they are their own worst enemy.
Yup- spot on. I think the title tells the story itself on this one.

I think this song is about how you will never succeed in life if you convince yourself that you are someone you are not.
To me this song is describing how somebody is ultimately never going to succeed at anything if they cannot take responsibility for their actions, positive or negative. By blaming and criticizing others actions, but never your own, you are both betraying others and yourself. A mind set like this will have you "set to fail" from the start.
Yeah... I totally feel like Randy Blythe (vocalist of LOG) is shouting at me here because this song describes me totally! Taking great measure to appear that I don't care that I'm failing everything I do, pretending it doesn't matter and making excuses (weaving a tale of woe). Setting myself up to fail by not giving problems the attention they deserve
"You want to hate me for the way you hate yourself You think you can find who you are in someone else Criticize who already found their positioning You've got a long way to go"
this verse talks about someone who hates people because they are insecure ("Criticize who already found their positioning")
"So go and weave your tale of woe Convincing yourself it's so Your so set to fail Somewhere you finally lost your way Only yourself left to betray"
this set of lines talks about how that person lies about bad things happening to her to get attention, but in reality, they're only betraying themselves.
"A needless ir-repair repairing your despair You take great measure to appear like you dont care The decision and persuasion must deceive thee properly You lost it before you began"
(same meaning as chorus)
