Courtyard Lyrics
oh my girl you're still in the middle
but only the middle
for once my dear you miss by a little
but only a little
i don't know which to way to stand
ooh, ooh, ooh,
ooh, ooh, ooh.
oh it's clear just look out a window
but only the window
i don't know how long to stay here, something's waking up
and i won't drive what you used to love
yeah the old days i think they're coming back
but i don't mind
ooh, ooh
saw you in a park
of a courtyard
and i love you, but i'd never tell you that.
but only the middle
for once my dear you miss by a little
but only a little
ooh, ooh, ooh.
but only the window
i don't know how long to stay here, something's waking up
and i won't drive what you used to love
but i don't mind
ooh, ooh
saw you in a park
of a courtyard

"and I love you, but I'd never tell you that" - ah that line makes me melt, because of the honesty surrounding the fact that we've all been through something similar.
Such a beautiful little song about old feelings coming back after seeing someone again. Sir. Schwartzman has done it again with this album!
There's a girl that I used to date. She lives right by my town's community park. Whenever I'm there I either pass by her house, hoping to catch a glimpse of her, or I actually do see her. It's nice cause I get to see that she's doing good, but makes me sad, because I get really nostalgic and lonely. Anyways, I really connect with this song, the line: "oh it's clear just look out a window" reminds me of when that girl and I first split, I would sit on a park bench near her house, hoping that she'd somehow see me, and think of me. I'm really strange, and a hopeless romantic, maybe that is why I love Coconut Records so much!
