Lucid Dreams (Album version) Lyrics

I'm gonna give my aimless love,
My angry heart, my desire.
I woke with wings from lucid dreams
And knew the reason I felt hollow
Was that I may never know
If there is some great truth or not.

There is no...
i'll dream a nation of you (whoa whoa)
a new utopia for you to live in
I'll dream a nation of me (whoa whoa)
a new ambrosia where we can live in

lucid dreams
uh huh yeah
I'm living in lucid dreams
uh huh yeah

Sweep slides on my stereo
Shortwave ride my rodeo
Beat came from Addis Abylon
But I'm flying to Istanbul.
Oh, so why don't you come along?

i'll dream a nation of you (whoa whoa)
a new utopia for you to live in
I'll dream a nation of me (whoa whoa)
another Narnia where we can live it

lucid dreams
uh huh yeah
I'm living in lucid dreams
uh huh yeah

Lucid dreams, I'm living in lucid dreams
I'm living on shortwave streams tonight.
Lucid dreams, I'm living in lucid dreams
I'm living on shortwave streams tonight.
I'm living in lucid dreams
uh huh, yeah
I'm living in lucid dreams
uh huh, yeah
uh huh, yeah

These are the lyrics from the book inside the CD case:

It's "Beat came from Addis Abylon", not "Became from that of Savalan", and "Another Narnia where we can live it", not "Another area we can live in".

A lucid dream is when you realize you're dreaming and you control what happens in it. The speaker is basically fed up with his seemingly meaningless life, "aimless love", and "angry heart", and therefore would rather live in a world where he can live out his dreams, because through them he can create any world he wants, be it the Eastern charm of Istanbul or the magic of Narnia.

At first I hated the album version, but it really grew on me. Love love love the new instrumental ending. Reminds me of Fight Club's music almost.

My Opinion

The line "Beat [Beep?] came from [?] Avalon" is "became that of from Savalan". Its likely "Savalan" and not "Savalon" because - fitting with the whole "globetrotting" theme of the song, Savalan is a real place (its a village in Azerbaijan). Either that its referring Sabalan, the volcano in Iran which is also commonly called "Savalan".

The album booklet says "Beat came from Addis Abylon". Interesting idea though.

well, was the Ambrosia part right? that was the one I had a problem with.

this song is sick, the synth ending is outstanding...i think amuiscalment sums up the content of the song quite nicely.

Lucid dreaming is about being aware that you are dreaming, and being able to control your actions in your dreams... I think the synth ending might be a way of showing how anything is possible in a lucid dream.... and how objects can be changed into anything. The possibilities are endless. Hence why it is unconventional for the song to change from a rocky song into an electronic one. I don't know if FF intended this, but it's how I interpret the song
