I'm Not Done Lyrics
so i lost my head a while ago
but you seem to have done better
we set fire in the snow
it ain't over
i'm not done
some do magic
and some do harm
i'm holding on
holding on
i'm holding on to a straw
who is the Alpha?
and what is made of cloth?
how do you say you're sorry
and there's nothing to be afraid of
is it dark already?
how light is a light?
do you laugh while screaming?
is it cold outside?
one thing i know for certain
oh i'm pretty sure
it ain't over
i'm not done
oh
who is the Alpha?
how do you say you're sorry
and there's nothing to be afraid of
pretty sure
it ain't over
i'm not done
but you seem to have done better
we set fire in the snow
it ain't over
i'm not done
and some do harm
i'm holding on
holding on
i'm holding on to a straw
and what is made of cloth?
how do you say you're sorry
and there's nothing to be afraid of
how light is a light?
do you laugh while screaming?
is it cold outside?
oh i'm pretty sure
it ain't over
i'm not done
who is the Alpha?
how do you say you're sorry
and there's nothing to be afraid of
it ain't over
i'm not done

i read somewhere in an interview that karin wrote this song last of the album's tracks. she said it was about how when people get older, they just quit music and grow up/get regular lives/start families. this is her way of saying, i'll never be done with music, because its her career and life, basically.

In http://feverray.com/biography/ she says: "Thus 'I’m Not Done', one of Fever Ray’s more upbeat moments, only reveals its true meaning in its title, a gesture of defiance against Karin’s own thoughts of retirement. 'That was the last song I wrote and in contrast to many tracks that are more about anxiety and depression, that one is very full of life,' she says. 'Sometimes, when you’re as old as I am now, you think you’re going to quit, and people around you think you’re going to quit. But then you have days when you realise how good music can be, there’s...

Thanks for posting this. I thought maybe the song was about her relationship with her brother from her band The Knife. That he was done with music but she wasn't thus creating Fever Ray. But it seems it was about herself instead.

ok cool people: !'vegotit!
The famous "What is made of cloth?" (well folks? what is? - a puppet) hence -
"Who is the Alpha and what is made of cloth?"
might mean "who the f is the strong individual in this relationship and who the h is the weak one?"
she thinks she is, and saying "I'm not done" she's saying that "it ain't over until I(SHE) say(s) so...." and "kneel boy!" and such :)
The song lyrics are wrong, here says:
"So I lost my head a while ago but you seem to have done better"
when it says "You seem have done NO better"
I think is important to fix that, it is an important phrase to the song.
Agreed.
Agreed.
I know the meaning of this song. The real one, not my interpretation. Many of you said it's about a relationship and love and break ups, well it's not. Like Fever Ray is ever going to write about love. The most probable reason of why you thought that is because there is one person talking about another person :"We set fire in the snow" "How do you say you're sorry?". But here's the thing. Fever Ray is taking with herself, the one who thinks its better to quit (her job, musician).
What was going on in the past was that After the last album with her brother came out she talked about retiring.
Now, she says in an interview: "Sometimes, when you're as old as I am now, you think you're going to quit, and people around you think you're going to quit. But then you have days when you realise how good music can be, there's so much left to explore and so much left to do. That's why I sometimes feel I'll never quit."--

blew it with the bold damn :(

Amazing song
fail
it says on the CD's artwork booklet & is clearly stated on the song
"so i lost my head a while ago but you seem to have done no better"
this needs to be corrected!!
This is a rather empowering song. I agree that it is about some kind of a break-up from some controlling element... be it a lover, friend(s) or something more... something of an obviously deep spiritual nature in which, after sharing some good times together, something happened to cause a loss of belief, or faith, in the other.
Anyway... kidV is right about the correction, please do so. Thanks!
Maybe I'm crazy? But this song screams psilocybin to me.
Yes!! I felt there was some psychedelic references in there. Particularily..

Anyway this is one of my favorite songs on the album, what an amazing album it is, it was easily one of the highlights of 2009.
