the lyrics to me show a person who has gone through something that they didn't want to go through: "I saw things in the darkness that I didn't want to see"

and they don't want to feel hurt ever again: "I hurt the things I love because It stops them hurting me"

they feel like they want rescuing because they also feel out of their comfort zone: "I'm feeling homesick I'm covered in seaweed Washed up in the sunshine On an oily pebble beach So rock me and roll me Back into the sea Over broken seashells So I can go to sleep"

they just want to blank it all out and feel at peace again: "Smother me Squeeze the air out of my cheeks Pump me full of chemicals And put me back to sleep"

that's what the song means to me :)
