This is my favorite song from the Thieve EP. Katie's vocals are at their prime in this song.
The "suck a man off" line always surprises me -- usually because their songs are relatively 'clean' and sexually ambiguous.
My interpretation is that the song is about her mother. The ocean represents despair and she sits like a fire upon it trying not to get dragged in. Because of a difficult relationship with her mother she wishes she felt a pull stronger than that of the ocean.
