i think this song is about the reassurance issue. like a battle within yourself to come to the reality that youre going to be ok, although you may always worry you know its just in your head.

I think the song is about why he choses to write and the way he goes about it. He writes about what troubles him.
I think this song is trying to say that ge is just going through the motions now. Everything he does still makes him feel hollow but if he doesn't care anymore. He doesn't see a point in trying to be happy if there's just misery that follows it.
