Devil's Train Lyrics
The whistle blows
I hear the train behind me
It tempts me so
This is the day he finds me
I've seen better days
I got a ticket to ride the
Devil's Train
Feeding me lies
Pulling me down again
The darker side
Holding me down again
I won't get away
I can't get away
Set me free
Loosen the chains that bind me
Feel the heat
A thousand degrees and climbing
I deserve this pain
I bought a ticket to ride the
Devil's Train
Bleeding me dry
Pulling me down again
The darker side
Holding me down again
I won't get away
I've seen better days
I got a ticket to ride the
Devil's Train
Feeding me lies
Pulling me down again
The darker side
Holding me down again
I won't get away
I hear the train behind me
It tempts me so
This is the day he finds me
I've seen better days
I got a ticket to ride the
Devil's Train
Pulling me down again
The darker side
Holding me down again
I won't get away
I can't get away
Loosen the chains that bind me
Feel the heat
A thousand degrees and climbing
I deserve this pain
I bought a ticket to ride the
Devil's Train
Pulling me down again
The darker side
Holding me down again
I won't get away
I got a ticket to ride the
Devil's Train
Pulling me down again
The darker side
Holding me down again
I won't get away

I think this song is about if you follow the path of the devil you'll find yourself in serious trouble.
Really? I think of it more as a one way ticket to hell sort of song, expressing anguish metaphorically.
This song is wonderfully vague and ambiguous. My personal interpretation is one of drug addiction. This song catalogues lyrically what it feels like to know you've made things far, far, worse in using drugs; regardless of your circumstances. It echoes the sentiment of ones shame and inability to fend off temptations from the desire to use and the depression that comes with the realization of all that I wrote above.
