Meet Me in the City (Junior Kimbrough cover) Lyrics

Meet me in the city
And see everything is so fine
We'll get together now, darlin'
Oh yes we will
We'll make everything alright
Now honey don't
Oh honey don't
Please, please don't leave me right now, baby
Right now, right now
Oh no no no

You got me, baby
You got me, darlin'
You got me where you want me, baby
Girl, I know you are satisfied
Still begging you, baby
Don't leave me here

Please, please don't leave me
Right now baby, right now, right now
Oh no no no

This track is from the Key's album: Chulahoma, which is made up of remakes of Junior Kimbrough's songs. He had a very crucial influence on Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney. However, the Black Keys were never able to meet Junior Kimbrough before he died. It is interesting to compare the Key's version to the orginal--I have to say I love the Black Key's take on it more.

Nice work Emma. I purchased Chulahoma a month ago, and have not looked back. This is some GREAT stuff. Right up there with Rubber Factory for me.

i used to prefer this version over Junior Kimbrough's but have since changed my mind. Still love this one though, both artists put so much emotion into the vocals - massively enjoy what the distortion adds to the black keys cover
