This Time WeStand Lyrics

Pull the curtain, Dim the lights
And set the scene to kill tonight
Because we can't trust the men in blue
They swear to God they told the truth

I am making fires now for you
Holding up the light to see the truth
This time we will stand and make it through

The state was pulling strings today
Pressing flesh to make him pay
Dead man walking paralyzed
By greedy hearts and dirty eyes

I am making fires now for you
Holding up the light to see the truth
This time we will stand and make it through

Be terrified of all the things we know
Because if innocence is ordinary
There are places I don't want to go

The show is over, time to leave
A job well done, an hour to grieve
They're sorry if he's not the one
They had to kill somebodys son

I am making fires now for you
Holding up the light to see the truth
This time we will stand and make it through

I think its about the corruption of the justice system "Because we can't trust the men in blue, They swear to God they told the truth" men in blue refers to the police. "The state was pulling strings today" how the state will do anything to try and put someone away, even if its illegal. Possibly to do with them being from Northern Ireland and there may have been some some sort of major corruption with the RUC?? (Thats a guess, I have no idea what the police was like over there)

I think your right about the corruption thing. I think it's about jean charles de menezes the guy the police shot on the tube cos they thought he was a terrorist.

I guess this song sets the theme for the whole album: opening people's eyes to the corruption of the world around them, and calling out for people to make a stand against authority.
