Even Now Lyrics
Even now I can smell the clothes
Freshly from the wash
Still hot from the dryer
Even now I can smell your skin
To wrap you in a towel
Lay you on the bed
And try to love you
Even now I can feel your arms
I can feel your breast
I can hear your songs
And I always can find you again
Even now I can feel your hand
Gently over mine
With almost no weight at all
Even now I can feel your eyes
Watch me as I strum
Much too late at night
Even now I can see you smile
I can hear you hum
I can hear you sing
And I always can find you again
Even in the dark of night
Even in the lowest light
Even as the world outside
Is spinning, and spinning
Even now I can feel your hair
Blow across my cheek
As we sit in one of two chairs
Even now I can feel your face
Resting on my chest
Wrestling for sleep
And failing at it
Even now I can see you sleep
I can see you dream
I can see you fly
And I always can find you again
And I always can find you again
And I always can find you again
Freshly from the wash
Still hot from the dryer
To wrap you in a towel
Lay you on the bed
And try to love you
I can feel your breast
I can hear your songs
And I always can find you again
Gently over mine
With almost no weight at all
Watch me as I strum
Much too late at night
I can hear you hum
I can hear you sing
And I always can find you again
Even in the lowest light
Even as the world outside
Is spinning, and spinning
Blow across my cheek
As we sit in one of two chairs
Resting on my chest
Wrestling for sleep
And failing at it
I can see you dream
I can see you fly
And I always can find you again
And I always can find you again
And I always can find you again

This song is incredible. Everything I love about Dashboard. The simplicity works perfectly.
The song is on the NCIS soundtrack which is out on iTunes today or in your local store. Very good song with the full band.

I tend to think this is about someone recalling memories of someone before they died. It doesn't have to be interpreted that way, but it certainly fits. I think the woman was sick for a while and then died.

certainly fits, because he's taking care of her. And he has to TRY to love her, because she's fragile and weak, perhaps.

"Even now I can feel your face resting on my chest wrestling for sleep and failing at it" also suggests she may have had medical problems that made it hard to sleep.
"Even now I can see you sleep I can see you dream I can see you fly" also adds to this conclusion. Or maybe, because I have health problems (none fatal thankfully), I'm reading too much of myself into it.
Maybe she IS sick, but she didn't die. He's just taking care of her, and is worried about her, but can still remember all of the reasons he fell in love with her and can still find happiness in the midst of everything going on.
I really like this song! I love the acoustic sound. It just sounds so raw. So Chris =)
It's so lovely to hear a song with just Chris and his guitar. Granted, I love EVERYTHING Dashboard has released, I'm partial to the acoustic.
I think it's about a couple who goes through a lot- general ups and downs of any relationship, and he's singing about how he'll always come back to her.
I love this song so much,it's so pretty. I think this song is self explainitary, it's about being in love and even they always find each other in the end if something comes up that seperates them probably like fights, and him being away and stuff and her not being cared for enough but hes still trying to protect her. like this part of the song reminds me of protection Even now I can smell your skin To wrap you in a towel Lay you on the bed And try to love you
I believe that his girl left him.
He is saying that he relives the happiness and love of being with her in his memories. Now that she is gone, his memories of her are all that he has left. Every time he almost forgets about her, he finds her in his memory.
To me, this song sounds like a father with a newborn child. He's not entirely sure where the relationship will go and he's nervous, but at the same time he knows that he will always be there for his kid.
Definitely sounds like it's about a baby, maybe a newborn. I think Katie's right - it sounds like it's about a new dad struggling to define his relationship with his child. Maybe the father is gone a lot, maybe on the road, and that's why it sounds as if there's distance, but he's saying that no matter how far apart they are, they're always together.
hm. i dont think this song is about fighting and making up. i think its generally about spenging a day with someone you are in a realtionship with. and i think the part where is says, "and i can always find you again" just means that he can always count on her and he knows that tomorrow she will still be there to spend another day or whatever.. but yeah, this song sounds great and has nice lyrics :)
