In the Flowers Lyrics

Met a dancer
Who was high in a field
From her movement
Caught my breath on my way home
Couldn't stop that sprinning force
I felt envy
Everything around seemed to giggle glee
She walked up with a flower and I cared

Saw the dancer
Who gets wild to the beats of record rhythms
But I'm always away for weeks
That pass slow my
Mind gets lost
Feeling envy for the kid who'll dance despite anything
I walk out in the flowers and feel better

If I could just leave my body for the night:

Then we could be dancing
No more missing you while I'm gone
There we could be dancing
And you'd smile and say, "I like this song"
And when our eyes will meet then
We will recognize nothing's wrong
And I wouldn't feel so selfish
I won't be this way very long

To hold you in time
To hold you in time
To hold you in time
To hold you in time

While we were dancing
Early hours
Drunken days finally ended
And the streets turned for a pillowcase
Then I fumbled our good lock
Then the ecstasy turns to rising light
Through our windowpane
Now I'm gone
I left flowers for you there

Shhh
You're a dancer
I'm a dancer

I feel so much when I listen to this song. I want to cry, run, dance, sing, fly, scream. I want open fields. And all of the sudden all the emaciated bimbos around me don't matter. And the way I am doesn't matter. And the heat on the street doesn't matter. And everything's better, better than ever before.

I don't think you could have put it better.

That could be lyrics to a song--a song about listening to a song...

and charlie kaufman could do the music video.

one of the greatest songs i've ever heard, first of all.

to me its very, very dreamlike; the sounds within it as well as the lyric content.

i interpret it like this: the field of flowers is a state of mind, one that is fantastical/unrealistic. he meets someone who is the type of person who can ignore all the negativity/complications of this life and just be happy (to dance). he's never really in that state of mind as much as he'd like to be and is envious of said dancer. the only way he can do so is through dreaming where he then could just be happy with this person even if his time is quite limited. after cherishing each moment he begins to awake from this ecstasy-filled dream.

When I first heard the song, it was beautiful to me and about 2 weeks ago, when I was listening to their albums, I realized that I already heard this fine melody "behind" the song and wanted to know where from. As my alltime favourite band is Pink Floyd, I knew that this melody is from their song. Couldn't remember which one, and two days after I heard Hey You on the radio. I was pretty happy :) I just absolutely love it how they put the intro of the Pink Floyd's Hey You through the song, in case somebody didn't recognized it :) It's a kind of hommage to the masters od psychedelic music :) Love both of them.

Er, not sure if you know this or not, but this is actually the greatest song ever written. Ever.

I knew that.

my interpretation

Author meets a girl dancer who he is moved by. She dances to the rhythm with no care of the outside world (carefree = flowers) He is envious of this raw emotion and would like to leave his busy world for a while.

-If I could just leave my body for the night -

They dance the night together He understands it won't last forever so he hold her in time. The morning comes and the dancing ends.

Alright this song is one of the most beautiful love songs ever created. When I hear this song I get so happy I feel like crying and laughing is the only way to show it off. I never want to stop hearing this song it gives me the same feeling I get when I first heard Real Love by John Lennon. I just know that love is real even though my own experiences have told me other wise. This song makes living so fucking easy because every day that you listen to this song means everyday you know that love might just be around the corner. If someone was to ban music I would hear this song even if it meant my death. I needed to just express how much I love this song, thanks for reading.
