Still in the Room Lyrics
Can you tone it down while I'm still in the room?
I can't even look at you
I avert my eyes to the floor
It's like, "what the hell is wrong with her?"
But you don't seem so concerned
'Cause you hardly know me anymore
Did I? I did, and I admit it
Can you hear me say "I'm sorry"?
But you, you care more that she knows what you did
Than you do that you did it to me
Whoa, whoa, whoa
And it's not worth the five hours it takes to explain
But we are both to blame
It's a complicated web
There's no need to make an excuse
Yeah, I can take the truth
But you'd rather lie instead
Did I? I did, and I admit it
Can you hear me say "I'm guilty"?
But you, you care more that they know what you did
Than you do that you did it to me
Oh, I must be an idiot
'Cause you're a liar and a hypocrite
But just tell me you're sorry
'Cause I'm willing to accept this lame apology
If you just give me something to believe
Please give me something to believe
And tone it down while I'm still in the room
I can't even look at you
I avert my eyes to the floor
It's like, "what the hell is wrong with her?"
But you don't seem so concerned
'Cause you hardly know me anymore
Did I? I did, and I admit it
Can you hear me say "I'm sorry"?
But you, you care more that she knows what you did
Than you do that you did it to me
Whoa, whoa, whoa
Are you kidding me?
What is this supposed to be?
Things were going fine
Just in time, they were falling in line
Whoa
Just in time, they were falling in line
I can't even look at you
I avert my eyes to the floor
It's like, "what the hell is wrong with her?"
But you don't seem so concerned
'Cause you hardly know me anymore
Can you hear me say "I'm sorry"?
But you, you care more that she knows what you did
Than you do that you did it to me
But we are both to blame
It's a complicated web
There's no need to make an excuse

So, I'm just gonna take a shot in the dark. The way I hear this song, and I admit it might be jaded by my own experiences, it sounds to me like she was the "other woman" in a relationship with a guy, and it never evolved into anything. This is her plea to acknowledge that not only did he cheat on his other girlfriend, and effect every relationship they'll be in for a while, but that he also did something to Julia. Something just as significant. And all she wants from him is for him to say "I'm sorry for how I hurt you". But clearly, he "cares more that she knows what you did than [he does] that [he] did it to" her.
I'm probably wrong tho. so goes.
