In the beginning of the song, it seems that the narrator is going through a state of depression and doesn't know what to do. He then realizes that his depression is coming from a certain person. He still cares about this person, but he knows that they are toxic to him and if he goes back to them, he will be depressed again. He found a way to be happy, but he's afraid that if he leaves these people to be happy, they won't be his friends anymore. That's just my 2 cents... So yeah...
