this song is pretty much talking about how the kids and teenagers of our time feel so small and unimportant in the vast world we live in. People start to feel like nobody even cares about them anymore, and they dont have a point in the world.

The sad thing is, our society really is coming to this point. So many people feel shut out from the world, and everyone else is too caught up in their own lives to notice.

ok; next important set of words: "When people run in circles its a very very Mad World" It just explains how people say so much shit, and when they're with other people they could say the complete opposite, and they keep confusing us, keep telling us lies, basically brain-washing us, and making us/them run in circles. And it makes everyone mad (crazy). Its a very very mad world. Everyone's nuts deep inside.

this song is about the world we live in today, "children waiting for the day they feel good, happy birthday" means the happiness emotion is being manufactured, for cirten days that we wait for... for most people its a smaller picture of how society works, most people work 5 or six days of a 7 day week, which is (waiting for the day they fell good) when people "run in circles its a very very mad world" we are doing the same thing over and over again, waiting...
