Angel Of The Morning Lyrics
There'll be no strings to bind your hands
Not if my love can't bind your heart.
And there's no need to take a stand for
It was I who chose to start.
I see no need to take me home
I'm old enough to face the dawn.
Just call me angel of the morning
Just touch my cheek before you.
Leave me
Baby
just call me angel of the morning
Then slowly turn away from me.
Maybe the sun's light will be dim
And it won't matter anyhow
If morning's echo says we've sinned
Well
it was what I wanted now.
And if we're victims of the night
I won't be blinded by the light.
Just call me angel of the morning
. . .
I won't beg you to stay with me
Through the tears of the day
of the years.
Baby
baby
baby
just call me angel of the morning
And there's no need to take a stand for
It was I who chose to start.
I see no need to take me home
Just call me angel of the morning
Leave me
Baby
just call me angel of the morning
it was what I wanted now.
And if we're victims of the night
Just call me angel of the morning
. . .
I won't beg you to stay with me
of the years.
Baby
baby
baby
just call me angel of the morning

She's speaking from the night before. "I know what's going on, I know we may feel differently in the morning, but I'm happy here and I want to take that risk. I promise to let you go gracefully, if that's what you want, but maybe the day will be just like the night and it's going to be OK."
It's already been well-explained. I used to sing this version of the song in Wendy W's ear the start of every English class senior year. I sat behind her and she'd try to swat me away, but I was relentless. I can't sing and I could seldom recall all the words (correctly at least:). It's a catchy track that has stuck in my head for decades.
I always thought it was "Just touch my teeth before you leave me." It doesn't really change the meaning of the song, but it does make it more clean and less passionate. I prefer my lyrics. :p
Angel of the morning = lady of the night.
You can put lipstick on a pig all you want but a pig will be a pig regardless.
@MsFeelAlright You seem triggered, maybe try to enjoy the music and not look so deep into the meaning... after all it is just a song

I've always thought that this song is about a woman who spent the night making love to a man who isn't hers. In the morning, he has to go back to whomever he's committed to.
It’s their first time and probably their last. She likes him a hell of a lot but senses that she won’t see him again.
[Edit: Typo]
"I see no need to take me home" - so they're going back to his place for what seems like a one night stand. So why is he leaving her in the morning, alone in HIS home?
Ever loved someone but they don't quite love you back? It's all just a sexual relationship? They leave... yet, you keep doing it. You want to be with them but this is all you can get... so you take what you can get. That's how this song feels to me. Trying to convince yourself you're something to them when you know deep down... you're just their "angel of the morning".
No comments? Damn shame - this is a beautiful song, beautifully performed. I wonder whatever happened to Ms Newton?
Meaning of the song is about the walk of shame in the morning after a one-night-stand. Actually, I believe she prefers to call it the walk of an angle.
