The narrator is really, really hurt but she is so in love that her main concern is their well-being.

I have never been in love but this is what true love must really be about. It's not about your feelings; its about caring for them regardless of your pain.The selflessness of the narrator is beautiful.

I think the narrator could be referencing a child of theirs that no longer speaks with them (You flew away like a little bird).

I hope I can have these feelings for someone, someday.

I think she is really missing someone she loves deeply and she hopes he is doing well. She wants to make sure he is being loved and is feeling alright. She wants to check in to be sure he is well taken care of. I think this song is about true love and it is so sweet. She wants a sign that he is okay. I know how she feels.
