West Coast Smoker Lyrics

wishes bounce me weightless
the infrared scope of pointlessness
the bulls are sedated
and this fight's fixed
don't feel bad for the suicidal cats
gotta kill themselves nine times before they get it right
the PA system keeps my heart, heart beating tonight
yeah.

oh hell yes
i'm a nervous wreck
oh hell yes
the drugs just make me reset
knock once for the father
twice for the son
three times for the holy ghost.

come in the water's warm
come on like a sugar cube
but with a kick in the head
like putting wings on lead
and your eyes are blockin my starlight
i'm the last of my kind
that's all that should matter to you
follow the disorganized religion of my head
and we'll never get through customs
let's just take off again instead

got my degree in the gutter
my heart broken in the dorms of the ivy league

oh hell yes
i'm a nervous wreck
oh hell yes
the drugs just make me reset
knock once for the father
twice for the son
three times for the holy ghost.

knock once for the father
twice for the son
three times for the holy ghost.

i'm a nervous wreck

i'm a nervous wreck
oh hell yes
the drugs just make me reset
knock once for the father,
twice for the son
three times for the holy ghost
(3 times)
three times for the holy ghost
(3 times)
three times for the holy ghost

"come on in the water's warm; come on in like a sugar cube; but with a kick in the head"

The ivy league part is once again about politics... this whole album is about politics guys. Pete keeps saying it all over the place. Bush went to Yale and Harvard, and was denied admission to the Texas Law School (heart broken in the dorms of the ivy league). Also Bush was a druggie...

i think the whole waters warm is saying that this war has been going on fo so long its just thesame old same old shoot, kill, repeat that u c on the news. the kick in the head part im not quite surre but a guess is he wants a change and someone new to come along and shake things up and fix them or something thats just what i get. the knock once for the father line is the bush boys and the tird i think s the soldiers who were over there are saying the first time we...

I really think the Knock once for the father twice for the son, three times for the holy ghost line has to do with getting drugs, like those are the code names for the corresponding drug of choice and the thing you have to do to get them from your shady dealer. Its also one of my favorite lines in the album. And i can also see how it relates to religion as a drug...

just my little revelation :)

Song Meaning

I agree. Because I can see how this song could possibly be about ignoring things going on in the world, "let's just take off again instead.", and doing drugs. The whole 'nervous wreck' thing plays a part, because, I mean, some drugs can make you like that, or even BUYING them can make you nervous.

The only thing I know for sure is around the religion part, he definitely say "organized religion," you know, as in the main concept of religion as opposed to spirituality.

Anyone notice when he says knock once for the father the drum beats once twice for the son the drum beats twice three times for the holy ghost the drum beats 3 times

right before the screaming part

idk if that was on purpose but i love it (:

"Come on like a sugar cube" is a drug reference. Talking about tripping on LSD. This whole song could be about a trip, actually.

"we'll never get through customs let's just take off again instead"

is an AMAZING lyric, I know that much.

My Interpretation

I think the organized religion thing make sense, 'cause they tal'n 'bout drugs, which is more acceptable in spiritual religions but shunned in organized religions, and also "shunned" by customs. Get it?

I love that lyric, "Knock once for the father, twice for the son..." because near the end, they do one guitar and drum beat for the first line, two for the second, and three for the holy ghost so it sounds like they're knocking. I'm amazed I didn't notice that until now, I've listened to this song so much :p

Idk about my favorite kitty4life, I don't think I can decide yet on a favorite it's wayy too early. Glad I like this so much though, I didn't really like Infinity On High that much.

I think it's:

Got my degree In the daughter ?my broken? In the dorms of the ivy league

(I originally thought it was "ive broken" which makes a whole lot more sense but after changing the equalizer to boost the vocals and make them clearer: definitely sounds like "my broken"... ????)
