(Coffee's for Closers) Lyrics
I can't explain a thing
I want everything
To change and stay the same on top
doesn't care about anyone or anything
now come together, come apart
only get lonely when you read the charts
Oh baby, when they made me
They broke the mold
Girls used to follow me around
When I got cold
Fly your cameras in the air
and wave 'em like you just don't care
I will never believe in anything again
I will never believe in anything again
Oh change will come
Oh change will come
I will never believe in anything again
We never believe again
kickdrum beating in my chest again
oh we will never believe again
preach electric to a microphone stand
I'm a mascot for what you've become
and I love the mayhem more than the love
and oh baby, one day maybe
We broke the mold
Girls used to follow me around
When I got cold
Fly your cameras in the air
and wave 'em like you just don't care
I will never believe in anything again
I will never believe in anything again
Oh change will come
Oh change will come
I will never believe in anything again
We will never believe again
kickdrum beating in my chest again
oh we will never believe again
preach electric to a microphone stand
Fly your cameras in the air
and wave 'em 'cause I just don't care

This song goes like this... So in a concert in Berlin, Pete Wentz said "This song is about cameras. How they can put us in a cage or set us free. Change is ok if it's real change. And we need change in places like Sri Lanka, Burma, Northern Uganda. And we need cameras there instead of cameras following fakeass people in Los Angeles."
FOB also said in interviews that folie a deux is about the pop culture today. How it affects our thoughtfulness and triggers our carelessness.
Now i hope you're getting the picture.
I can't explain a thing, I want everything (artists or kids of this generation that are material dependent. Ones who never get contented with what they have.)
To change and stay the same on top (artists who are willing to change just to be on the top 100 or to win every award) doesn't care about anyone or anything (they don't care about the people they hurt nor the things they preach)
Now come together, come apart (bands who disbands because they are not popular anymore or bands who just stay together for the sake of reputation) Only get lonely when you read the charts (only gets frustrated by their ratings and not with the bigger problems on Earth)
Oh baby when they made me, they broke the mold (WHEN THEY MADE ME, THEY BROKE THE MOLD is actually an idiom for you are unique. What i think they meant here was When the industry introduced FALL OUT BOY in the pop generation, THEY WERE MADE TO PREACH SOME MEANINGFUL STUFF unlike others that sing for the sake of popularity and money)
Girls used to follow me around but i got cold. (They got famous and all but they got tired of having the sedentary life of a band member. They sing. They perform but they wanted more. They wanted to change the world)
Fly your cameras in the air, and wave em like you just don't care. (They were like saying to the media "Go and use your cameras for something that aren't important, for something that would only destroy people's reputations then get money for it. Sure, do that instead of letting people know about the dying continent of africa or something.)
I will never believe in anything again, I will never believe in anything again (This part was like said by the people who thinks that this generation would never get better anymore.)
Oh change will come, Oh change will come (but FOB says otherwise, trying to keep the faith.)
I will never believe in anything again
We never believe again (said by the people,)
kickdrum beating in my chest again (FOB having the urge to stand up and let others people see the strife in the decade)
oh we will never believe again (said by the people)
preach electric to a microphone stand (preach lyrics that would wake people up and let em see that we need to change.)
I'm a mascot for what you've become (FOB is trying to say that when people are getting so insensitive about the world, others would immediately blame the artists, each and one of them. Mascot for what you've become - Representation of your own faults)
and I love the mayhem more than the love (Photographers or people in the media that rather take pictures of people dying, famous people fighting or some other stuff because they know they'd get a lot of money for it. Or maybe the people who pay attention to bad news but not to the good news)
and oh baby, one day maybe We broke the mold (One day We'll finally gonna make a change)
Girls used to follow me around When I got cold
Fly your cameras in the air and wave 'em like you just don't care
I will never believe in anything again I will never believe in anything again Oh change will come Oh change will come I will never believe in anything again
We will never believe again kickdrum beating in my chest again oh we will never believe again preach electric to a microphone stand
Fly your cameras in the air and wave 'em 'cause I just don't care Fly your cameras in the air and wave 'em 'cause I just don't care
I will never believe in anything again I will never believe in anything again Oh change will come Oh change will come I will never believe in anything again I will never believe in anything again I will never believe in anything again Oh change will come Oh change will come I will never believe in anything again
We will never believe again kickdrum beating in my chest again oh we will never believe again preach electric to a microphone stand
that's about it. hope it helped. :)
According to Rolling Stone's interview with Patrick Stump, the "I will never believe in anything again" is relating to when Bush won presidency. It's NOT most definitely to do with Obama.
Fuckwits.

Don't have to be so negative, shit...this is a site for song interpretation, so everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion.

Also I know that this guy above me ^ just said what Stump said, but I was thinking about it in the car while listening to it, and here is what I came up with.

The title itself is in parenthesis so it could be sarcasm, and some of the lines could be just part of it.

"I will never believe in anything again I will never believe in anything again Oh change will come Oh change will come"...

You never know
amazing song x40002349
sorry for the drastic understatement.
The title is a reference to the movie/play Glengarry Glen Ross.
I can't believe this doesn't have more comments...its one of the best songs FOB's ever made..& I've heard juss about every one of their songs
going off the "Coffee's for Closers" referencing the movie version of the play Glengarry Glen Ross written by David Mamet, it leads me to believe that this song is a summation of Mamet's most famous plays: Bobby Gould in Hell, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, Glengarry Glen Ross. The first verse ("I can't explain ... i got cold") for example (if you've read the play) sounds like a directors subtext for Bobby Gould when he is being interrogated by the Devil essentially and his assistant. He can't explain the exact reason why he's in hell, but he knows why. Its because of all the terrible terrible things that he has done. The second verse ("i'm a mascot ... i got cold") reflects text similar to that betweent the characters in Sexual Perversity. Throughout the play they continually mimic each other phychologically "im a mascot" and metaphorically become one another. "Fly your cameras..." is reference to how quickly these characters change throughout their respective plays. "i will never believe again..." again references how quickly these characters change, how you cannot believe what they say even if it sounds very typical of something they would say. "kick drum" Glengarry Glen Ross is a very nerve wracking play/movie. "preach electric" Alec Baldwin's character in the movie is not originally in the play, however he does bring up points such as the title, however most people do not know that he was originally not in the play and that Mamet wrote the part just for Baldwin.
Okay, I'm pretty sure he says:
"I want everything to change and stay the same. Oh, time doesn't care about anyone or anything."
"I'm a mascot for what you've become. I love the mayhem more than the love. And oh, baby, when they made me, They broke the mold. Girls used to follow me around, Then I got cold."
"I will never believe in anything again. I will never believe in anything again. Though change will come, Oh, change will come. I will never believe in anything again."
I am in love with this whole cd. :D!
I know for sure that 'only get loaded when you read the charts' is supposed to be only get LONELY when you read the charts
*Oh baby, when they made me it broke the mold
This is probably my favourite song on the album.
