Paper Planes Lyrics

Surrounded by strangers
Their sounds and their changes

There's a big old man in his underpants
He plays the clarinet every night
Trying hard to figure out

In the flat above they are making love
I guess they'll have a beautiful son
Practicing as much as they've done

Paper planes
Folding paper planes
Throwing paper planes to clear my head

In the flat below there's the Cosby Show
And Theodore is screaming at Bill
Claire is mad and Rudy is ill

There's a cat out here running everywhere
Chasing all the girls in the park
I wish that I could see in the dark

Paper planes
Folding paper planes
Throwing paper planes to clear my head

Paper planes
Folding paper planes
Throwing paper planes and go to bed

Surrounded by strangers
Their sounds and their changes

Surrounded by strangers
Their sounds and their changes

I love this song. And it makes me laugh that they call the Huxtible family's youngest child Ruby and Rudy. I wonder if the name was changed to Ruby for the dubbed over version in non-English speaking countries!

Love this song! I can totally relate to sitting quietly in your apartment and hearing the rest of the world around you and unintentionally eavesdropping on the neighbors you don't really know. Also, I laughed at the Ruby/Rudy thing when I first heard it, too. :)

I thought the Ruby/Rudy thing was peculiar too. Also, he calls Bill Cosby's character Bill, when on the show it was, of course, Cliff Huxtable. Odd.
