Fast Car Lyrics
You've got a fast car
I wanna ticket to anywhere
Maybe we can make a deal
Maybe together we can get somewhere
Any place is better
We're starting from zero, got nothing to lose
Maybe we'll make something
But me, myself, I've got nothing to prove
You've got a fast car
And I've got a plan to get us out of here
I've been working at the convenient store
I managed to save just a little bit of money
We don't have to drive too far
Across the border and into the city
You and I can both get jobs
And we'll finally see what it means to be living
Yeah, we'll finally see what it means to be living
(Remember when we were)
Driving, driving in your car
Speeding so fast, I felt like I was dumb
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped around my shoulder and
I, had a feeling that I belong
Yeah, I, had a feeling like I could be someone,
I could be someone, be someone
You've got a fast car
And I've got a job that pays all of our bills
I've been working at the store
And I managed to save up a little bit of money
I know that things will get better
You'll find work, and I'll get promoted
We'll move out of the shelter
Buy a big house and live in the suburbs
You've got a fast car
But is it fast enough, so we can fly away?
You've got to make a decision
We can leave tonight, or live and die this way
We don't have to drive too far
Across the border and into the city
You and I can both get jobs
We can finally see what it means to be living
We can finally see what it means to be living
(Remember when we were)
Driving, driving in your car
Speeding so fast, I felt like I was dumb

Such an amazing song. Listen to it while you're driving fast down a highway, it gives you such an amazing feeling.
this is a cover by tracy chapman
I agree @Alysenn! This is the best song to drive fast to. Especially if there's a city skyline in sight.
This song has an incredible meaning. It is basically about the singer and his partner/friend doing what they can and how they yearn for a better life in a decent place. The car is a symbol in my opinion, one can clearly feel it when he says "fast", "fly away" and "leave tonight". To escape their poor lives. When he says "i know things will get better" you can kind of feel the hope that's there, life will get better one day and they'll be able to get away to a decent lifestyle.
