The sea shook of furious rumbling below
Nowhere to swim, no where to go
Avalanche of waves were building fast
Tail picked me up then I saw my path
I'm free as I will ever be, steeper than I have ever seen
I'm surfin' on a tidal, I'm surfin' on a tidal wave

I prayed my feet could stay on the board
The winds picked up and whipped me hard
Terrified but not for long
Then overcome with a sense of calm
I'm free as I will ever be
What a meditative place to be
I'm surfin' on a tidal wave, I'm surfin' on a tidal wave

This is my moment, my last show
This a moment for my soul
Only a feeling that I could know
Patiently waiting but no control
I want this to last like a photograph
I want to laugh as I make my big splash
I'm gonna crash
I'm gonna smash myself in half

One chance before it washes over me
And sends me plunging with my head over my knees
As I'm tumbling fast uncontrollably
Deafening weight of water pushed on top of me
I'm free as I will ever be
Even though that I can barely see
I'm surfin' on a tidal wave, I'm surfin' on a tidal wave

In the churn and the crazy undertow
My last breath swallowed no long ago
Water fills my lungs
A peace comes over me
As I surrender to my last ride
I'm free as I will ever be
Even though this is the end of me
I'm surfin' on a tidal wave, I'm surfin' on a tidal wave

This is my moment, my last show
This a moment for my soul
Only a feeling that I could know
Patiently waiting but no control
I want this to last like a photograph
I'm going to laugh as I make my big splash
I'm gonna crash
I'm gonna smash myself in half

I'm surfin' on a tidal wave
I'm surfin' on a tidal wave
I'm surfin' on a tidal wave
I'm surfin' on a tidal wave

Check this out acoustically if you never have before, it's pretty fantastic.

I think it's more about being young and naive and not being prepared for or expecting the change that inevitably comes in all of our lives throughout the course of growing up, finding and losing love being one of them.
