Times they ain't like nothing they used to be
From Rocky Mount to northeast Tennessee
Where the river flows with a dusty coal disease
And the babies whine cause they can't find nothing to eat
But mama she ain't hungry no more
She's waiting for a knock on the trailer door
It's gonna rock you like a hurricane
It's gonna rock you 'til you lose sleep
It's gonna rock you 'til you're out of a job
It's gonna rock you 'til you're out on the street
It's gonna rock you 'til you're down on your knees
It's gonna have you begging pretty please
It's gonna rock you like a hurricane
Methamphetamine
Don't need no PHD just a hundred dollar car
Find a crooked cop and that doctor disregard
You can call up the mine or the Kentucky national guard
I'd rather cut him in line than be dying in the coal yard
Now papa he ain't hungry no more
He's waiting for a knock on the trailer door
It's gonna rock you like a hurricane
It's gonna rock you 'til you lose sleep
It's gonna rock you 'til you're out of a job
It's gonna rock you 'til you're out on the street
It's gonna rock you 'til you're down on your knees
It's gonna have you begging pretty please
It's gonna rock you like a hurricane
Methamphetamine
Well it's a war out there and it's fought by poor white men
From the Plateau to the falls of the Cumberland
You better watch your back 'cause you just can't trust a friend
Because the method man is going to get you in the end
So listen to the whispering wind
It sounds like a big storm's rolling in
It's gonna rock you like a hurricane
It's gonna rock you 'til you lose sleep
It's gonna rock you 'til you're out of a job
It's gonna rock you 'til you're out on the street
It's gonna rock you 'til you're down on your knees
It's gonna have you begging pretty please
It's gonna rock you like a hurricane
Methamphetamine

I think they he may be saying "Where the river flows with a dusty coal disease," meaning black lung... Any thoughts? It fits with the other coal references later in the song.

this song is among the many reasons why ocms is my favorite band that is still together today. i love how they are so blunt about this shitty drug, i feel ashamed to say it but this song is as bad ass as can be. meth is a shitty drug, just listen to this song and you will realise that meth is bad, please don't bother trying it cuz you will learn alot faster than you ever had wanted to, know just how quickly meth will destroy yourself and as well as anything else that you thought might have held you and your life together.

i also am amused that the band released this song when they were already famous and already on their third album, because in my opinion this song has been brewing in these guys since before this band could even stand, although probably written more recent than that. what i'm trying to say is this; the old crow medicine show has probably "been there" and "done that" way before this song was even penned onto paper, many, many years prior. keep in mind that this is not a good thing and that crystal meth with lift you up until you break. semi charmed death.

    My Interpretation

Meth has recently turned my town upside down and inside out.\nSo when I hear this it hits. When I heard "But mama she ain\'t hungry no more\nShe\'s waiting for a knock on the trailer door" I\'m not sure but I think she\'s dead from an overdose and she\'s waiting for a wellness check.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
