Raise Hell Lyrics
Towers climb through the breathless grey...
soon we burn
As the businessmen feed
Truth and beauty bleed
As they poison the well
Raise hell
Hear them whipping the slaves
Singing Jesus saves
You invented the cage
Raise hell
Writhe in the fire...Burn
Those that suckle the reigns
Buy and copulate
you've got fashion for brains
Raise hell
Writhe in the fire...Burn
soon we burn
Truth and beauty bleed
As they poison the well
Singing Jesus saves
You invented the cage
Buy and copulate
you've got fashion for brains

In my opinion i think this song is about extremely wealthy people taking advantage of everyone else, and/ or wealthy religious people using their religion to gain from people who follow them. Either one, i think thats its about either of those and people rebelling against that, hence "raise hell". I don't know, this is just what i get out of it. Also i wasn't trying to bash any religions with the wealthy religious people part, I myself am a christian, but i don't support using the religion to gain things such as money from other people.
It's part of the story of the album, which is an adaptation of themes from "1984". There, God and religion in general are turned into a mockery. It has nothing to do with the members' personal beliefs, although I share this ideal that religion should not be used for personal gain. That isn't what religion is FOR, and this kind of abuse makes people stereotype religion as ALL about control and abuse, such that they end up rejecting God.
