You put the clouds aside
Illuminate the sky
Through every dark and hazy night you are my guide
For every town we find We'll paint a new skyline
We will always wake up in a different place and time

As we begin descending faster than illumination
You hold me steady, yeah, you show no fear or limitation

You turn the ocean tide,You shake me up inside
The way I feel with you words can't describe
I don't know why or how
But I can't disavow
I've never felt the way I feel right now.

So, don't burn out
Just don't burn out

I've got the brightest star you'll ever find
Even the sun is jealous of the way you shine
We are the constellations in the sky
Wrap me up in your arms,
It's beautiful when time is ours and everything's a miracle.

The distorted singing is what makes the song sound so great! Sounds nice to have a voice with it, but the main focus of this song is the synths

the song would be cuter if i could actually understand what he says. it's kind of annoying how distorted the singing is in parts.

I just rediscovered this song a little while ago when I was going through some music I used to listen to, and oh my god I am blown away. This song has just the perfect balance of interesting synth and pretty vocals.

I think the meaning of this song is pretty straightforward; if you take it on more of a general level, it's easily interpreted as the love and adventure of a new relationship with some pretty metaphors with space/stars.

If you look at the lyrics a little closer, I like to think that it's about a pessimistic, maybe kind of flaky guy who met an amazing girl and she's turned his life around.

"You put the clouds aside / Illuminate the sky / Through every dark and hazy night you are my guide" She's his beacon in the darkness. It doesn't matter how bad he's feeling or how nasty he's acting, she always has a way to make him feel better/see the bright side. When everything looks dark, she finds a way to let him see past the bad stuff and start seeing the good in life again.

"For every town we find / We'll paint a new skyline / We will always wake up in a different place and time" No matter where they go or what happens to their lives together, they'll always be there for each other. They'll make the best of any situation and keep living.

"As we begin descending faster than illumination / You hold me steady, yeah, you show no fear or limitation" She's not afraid of change or large obstacles in their life together. Even when things are spiraling out of control, she's there to make keep him steady and make sure he's alright.

"You turn the ocean tide,You shake me up inside / The way I feel with you words can't describe / I don't know why or how / But I can't disavow / I've never felt the way I feel right now." He came from a bad place, mentally or emotionally, but she's totally changed his life for the better and changed his attitude on life. He's never had this kind of relationship with anybody, but he's not about to dissuade it. He's not sure how he let her into his life or how she managed to become such a big part of it, but it's okay with him.

"So, don't burn out / Just don't burn out" He knows he's changed a lot since starting a relationship with her, and sometimes he wonders if she gets tired of him, of what a downer he can be sometimes. He doesn't want her to leave, but he's scared that he's accidentally pushing her away.

"I've got the brightest star you'll ever find / Even the sun is jealous of the way you shine" She's a really beautiful person, inside and out, and he's certain he's found perfection in her, that she's his soul mate. You can't find better than the best, really.

We are the constellations in the sky / Wrap me up in your arms / It's beautiful when time is ours and everything's a miracle." When they're together, he can't see the bad side of life. She makes everything look beautiful.

i think where you have "For every town we find we'll paint a new skyline" sounds more like "For ever step we walk will bring us still together, love." i could be wrong, but it doesnt really sound like it says town, or paint. or skyline.

He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
