Bar-Ba-Sol Lyrics

When I woke up, I could see
The daylight had already passed me
It was such a fight to fade away asleep
It's a fugue I'm on
Found to chase down the dawn
And I fell every night as it turns
Into light with my eyes just shut tight

Sailing all alone
I thought I made it home
But I threw it all away

Oh where I've been sold and spun again
All before me like a dream, falling in between
I feel sick, I feel nervous
I know just what I did to deserve this
Though I know it's not a dream

Keeping quiet, laying low
Holding on to what I don't want to know
Till the daylight turns to ash and blows away
Missing keys, bloody nose
Consequences of what I chose
Keep all eyes on me
Don't want my memory
All comes so deafening

Sailing all alone
I thought I made it home
But I threw it all away

Oh where I've been sold and spun again
All before me like a dream, falling in between
I feel sick, I feel nervous
I know just what I did to deserve this
Though I know it's not a dream

I think the speaker has gotten completely drunk the night before (among other things...) and probably the night before that in a conscious attempt to forget all his problems and mistakes. He knows that what he's feeling today is the consequences of 'forgetting', but will likely do the same thing over and over, because he doesn't want the memories.

In reference to the title, Barbasol is a brand of shaving cream, but the brand is also on body wash and aftershave. General clean up items. He knows he should shape up and clean up his life(style) but again does not want the memories of past problems/mistakes. There are other songs that use this brand to imply the same meaning.

woot! first comment! anyways, down to business: this song, to me, means that he got in huge trouble, prolly with his chick, because he was being stupid. really, it seems like he's just lamenting over stupid mistakes in general. by the way, anyone know what "bar-ba-sol" means? i swear it looks like "ban-la-sol" on the back of the album.

Bar-ba-sol used to be a brand of shaving cream. I have no clue why he titled the song this.

Yea, that's what I know as well... what an odd choice for a song title. Still, it's such a wicked song! I agree with freeasabird16. Lyrically, the song tells about a guy who got into a lotta trouble the day before, and just slept the the whole day through, feeling "sick" and "nervous" about what he had done. Just my two cents

it's like karma. "I know just what I did to deserve this"
