Used to Be Lyrics
I adore this song. To me it's about two people in a relationship that used to be really happy together but now, later on in the relationship, things are changed and it's just like they're existing in a lie by being together. I think they're both afraid to let go of the love they once knew but in the end they know it's inevitable that they're going to split up. And they're asking themselves that if they could try again, would it still work out? But they know that it will always come to the same ending. But maybe they could take time off from each other until the summer, and then see where they stand. And maybe spend their time together that whole summer, and see if things could work out again. If not, it's always nice to spend time in the company of someone you once loved.
That's what I got from it.
it's definitely interesting to see what kind of people two lovers grow into after the fire of a relationship has died out. she hits upon several relatable feelings that come out in the form of unanswered questions: can they be friends? do they enjoy being alone or was it better together, just with that company? is it a lie to be together? or is it a lie to be a part? even if it was given another go, would it just end up the same way it did?
agh, that's a lot of questions. but that seems to be the point of this song. and in the end, it's a good idea to just take some time from each other and start fresh... or at least as fresh as you can get. haha. my answer would be to let the questions and the worry drift away and get better, feel like separate, unique people again, and if the spark is still there, if they still collide, they will see...
I prefer "coming home any day now" to the old version so much. it's so perfect, I don't even understand.
You are coming home, are you still alone? Are you not the same as you used to be? As the sun grows high and you serve your time does each day just feel like another lie?
Now you know, is it just for show, just a foolish game that you hide behind? Don't forget the nights when it all felt right, are you not the same as you used to be? Used to be
In an endless night, could you feel the fright of an age that was and could never be? So we hold it close when we feel the most like a love that we could not leave behind
We turn the wheel to which way we feel till I'm lost and I cannot find you there Don't forget the nights when it all felt right, are you not the same as you used to be? Used to be
Even if I tried so hard, would we still be coming to an end? Even if we spoke the same words, would we still return as friends?
Even if it's simple from the start, we would give the pieces of our hearts And when there is nothing left to pretend we will know it's coming to an end
Even if I tried so hard, we would give the pieces of our hearts It's always good to see you again Even if it's coming to an end
We could wait until the summer, see what happens to the other We could stay inside all summer, see what that means to the other
It's important to note this song was released as a single in 2008, and has different lyrics.
There's a substitute for, "Coming Home, Any Day Now"

It's beautiful too!
People change ,auvior
Why hasn't anyone commented this? I heard this song while I was driving, I was so enticed! I don't have an idea for the meaning to this song sometimes it just better to listen.
The turmoil of touring, but it can be used for all sorts of relationships once folks have been together for awhile.
We can say the same things, but do we really mean them? Don't forget the nights...they won't,
but the end has a hopeful tone
A guy that agreed that me and him have feelings for each other went on a trip for a few days and I wondered when he came home if he was going to be the same as he used to be. Turns out he started to like someone else on the trip. So this can apply to that situation as well. He came back and kind of wants things to be good between us but after this point no matter how much we try, it's over for us.
It seems to there is a mistake in the lyrics. It should be:
'We turn the wheel to which way we feel Till I'm lost and I cannot find you there'
It's sad that friendship comes to an end too. Great song anyway..
<3 this song is great.
