Brighter Days Lyrics
Time keeps moving on
Through the sunshine and the storm
And my dreams are set in stone
And someday I’ll be who I want to be
For now I’ll wait
For the sun to shine again
And for now I’ll wait
For the rain to pass away
And I’m looking for the brighter days
When all my hurts seem to fade away
I’m looking for the brighter days to come my way
Faces come and faces go
But none seem to look my way
And walls have stood and walls have fallen
But my heart seems to wait
For now I’ll sit at the end of the road
And for now I’ll wait
At the end of the pathway
I’ll see the sun one day shine upon me
I’ll see the sun one day
And watch the nighttime turn to morning
But for now it all comes back around
Through the sunshine and the storm
And my dreams are set in stone
And someday I’ll be who I want to be
For now I’ll wait
For the sun to shine again
And for now I’ll wait
For the rain to pass away
When all my hurts seem to fade away
I’m looking for the brighter days to come my way
But none seem to look my way
And walls have stood and walls have fallen
But my heart seems to wait
For now I’ll sit at the end of the road
And for now I’ll wait
At the end of the pathway
I’ll see the sun one day
And watch the nighttime turn to morning
But for now it all comes back around

This may be an "emo" song, but it definitely helps when your friend suddenly passes away. I have found so much strength through this song during such a tough time.
Leeland, Leeland, why so sad? I havent heard them like this before. Usually he's pretty up beat. I guess every artist needs an emo song every now and then.
In the spirit of David no?

I definitely think it's about hoping for better days to come. As far as it being "emo"-- Leeland was originally hesitant to put it on their record, for that very reason. In an interview, however, they mentioned that it could be a homeless man or a child in Africa with AIDS singing it. It's not necessarily "depressed", but rather expresses some of the thoughts those people may have. As far as "not doing anything while he's hoping"... well... use your head. When life is sort of crumbling around you, there's not always a whole lot you can do.
this is probably my least favorite song by leeland. yes, it is about hope, but all he's doing is hoping. he's not doing anything while he's hoping. he's just hanging on until the brighter days come, and life is passing him by.
