Over Oceans Lyrics
I remember when all the trees knew your name
Flames from fire flies would light our way
Have I lost all that which I never knew I had found
Searching for you on the wings
On oceans to you
All my time comes to you
How long has it been
Flying home again
Will we be the same as we were once before
Remember like children the stories of old
Your hand was in mine be the firelight when we danced
Mighty wind will carry me
On oceans to you
All my time comes to you
How long has it been
Flying home again
And I’ll be there too
And I’ll be there soon

What beautiful lyrics!
I think it points to the lost tribes of Israel, scattered to the four corners of the earth - being called back. Perhaps this makes me a "lost tribes/ two house" advocate...I see plausibility exists, even if scant. And I know not real popular in mainstream Jewish/Christian populus. That's why it often feels like I'm drifting on an ocean with "home" in view but its so far, and not even sure if they'll grant me safe passage to that treasured land, but I drift toward it nonetheless. Yep, people like me with no visible jewish ancestry within the last 4 generations that somehow are being drawn in; things we were raised/trained to believe were done away with/passe are now vital to daily life. Its all new frontier and yet as I adapt more and more its like coming back to something that was in me all the time...a recovery from some generational/spiritual "amnesia", just all so strange, and yet so all consuming and unescapable! These lyrics speak so beautifully to this journey God has me on, and I know quite a few others in recent days.
Gorgeous song! I think this is about his connection to the woman he fell deeply in love with, and was later parted from for some time, but was divinely destined to be reunited with and eventually become married to. He tells this story in the documentary 'The Sea In Between'.
