Ruler Lyrics

I have not slept for nights.
I look back over my shoulder just once.
That is right, nothing can hold me down.
I'll drag your body into the wild west.
But we will get out alive, this much i know.

Grabbing victory out of the jaws of defeat.
Is there no way out of the mind?
There are things to find,
Chaos is a friend of mine.

It takes pressure to make a diamond out of coal.
Staring through clothes, I can see hearts where i go.
What i need now is a gut feeling to let me know.
What i need now is a gut feeling to let me know.

I look back over my shoulder just once,
That is right, nothing can hold me down.
I'll drag your body into the civil war.
But we will get out alive- this much I know.

Cover art for Ruler lyrics by Marnie Stern

in the second occurance of:

"I have not slept for nights. I look back over my shoulder just once, That is right, nothing can hold me down."

i definitely hear

"I have not slept for nights. I look back over my shoulder just once, What I can't see is chasing me down"

These lyrics are direct from Marnie's MySpace page, I believe.

I'm not really big on female musicians but this is a best song on a great album.

My Opinion

You're "not really big on female musicians"? Just, like, categorically? That's a little sexist, don't you think? What I'm big on is extremely original and talented musicians like Marnie Stern.

My preferences are what they are. Sexist/misogynist? Probably. "What I'm big on is extremely original and talented musicians like Marnie Stern." I agree completely.
