I LOVE this song. Great Canadian mid 2000s alt rock. I think its about touring life and how "The Reason" needs a rest because its taking its toll on him mentally and physically. He can fall asleep for days because he puts his all into touring. He drinks to numb stage fright or nervousness. Could be wrong but I think it makes sense.
